Didn't see a thread for this. Lets start talking about the upcoming season and what has taken place so far in the offseason

Cardinals have it on lock for the WS.

I am Reds fan, I am pretty disappointed by Choo going to Texas.

I'm an A's fan. I'm very excited at what the team did in the off season, except signing Johnson when they had plenty of capable closers within the team.

The Yankees have some question marks. I'd like to see them pick up Tanaka but even if they do their infield is suspect at best.

Texas is probably the team to beat this year, and if they get Tanaka they could be dominant. Look for Boston, Detroit and Texas to win divisions, Oakland and who knows as wildcards. In the NL, Washington, Pitt and LA win divisions, StL and some one wildcards.

A middle infield of Kelly Johnson and Derek Jeter (which will happen once Brian Roberts inevitably gets hurt) would be the worst defensive MI for a putative contender in my memory.

I got out of bed extra early this morning to check the final score of the Ohio State vs Clemson Orange Bowl game. Ohio State lost 40-35! Considering the fact that the Buckeyes are my team, I was so disappointed that I turned off my laptop, and went back to bed, figuring sleep would make me feel better. It didn't. Their record for the past two years was 24-2, but what I saw of last night's game, Clemson used the same play about 30 times and Ohio State didn't seem to pick up on that! I am waiting to see who gets replaced! :2mad:

Greetings, Steve Ja. :2wave:

You are an Ohio State fan? Well, I got just one thing to say to that:

Their farm system is unbelievably talented. I hope Taveras gets healthy and a starting job.

They have so many players I want to see in the majors, I can't contain my excitement.

I also love their young pitching, miller and wacha could be amazing to watch. I also play fantasy baseball, so I have more then one interest going on here lol

I think the Cardinals are the team to beat right now, their pitching talent is unbelievable and they have some hitters
My predictions... Boston, Cleveland, Oakland win the divisions in American league with Detroit and Texas Wild Cards.. NL Winners will be Atlanta, st. Louis and LA Wild Cards will be Pitt and Washington. Detroit and Washington win the one game play off. Oakland and Cleveland and St. Louis and LA advance to champs. Oakland VS St. Louis WS St.Louis in 6

I'll be okay...really I will...they are our home boys, and we'll still back 'em next year! We always do!

Greetings, Redress. :2wave:

Joe Kelly and Carlos Martinez as well. And don't forget their bullpen. Rosenthal is the man.

Check out the thread on this year's fan vote for the HoF.

Who is your team SJ ?

I don't see Pitt beating us this year. Burnett, Byrd, Morneau, and Barmes are all likely gone. I doubt Liriano or Grilli can pull off another season like they did considering each performed beyond head and shoulders ahead any year they had previously. They haven't really done anything to get better, and their small budget suggests they won't for the rest of the offseason. Cole will be good in a full season and its within the realm of possiblity that Taillon and Polanco will come up and perform, but I think the Cardinals are clearly a better team at this point.

If he is, who do you think the best closer candidate would be?

Cook had decent success in 2012 as closer, but I think Gregerson, who also has experience with SD would be the best one. He brings the heat

Doolittle would be a possibility, too.

I'm not overly familiar with Gregerson, but just having heat isn't enough. The Rhodes debacle is still too fresh in my memory. He had serious heat, but could not mentally handle the pressure of closer.
