I’m not a partisan or party loyalist, my disdain for both major parties will well known. But I do lean toward the conservative side of politics. The more traditional conservative side. The fact McMullen has stated he wouldn’t caucus with either party makes him if he wins, the only true independent serving in the senate. King and Sanders are independent in name only and are nothing more than Democratic Party lapdogs who are trying to hide their true political identity. Now I’m biased here as I firmly believe Trump and his followers have thrown traditional conservative ideals and values out the window to follow a man without any political ideology. Trump has switched parties 7 times and with each switch had adopted the political philosophy of the party he switched to. He doesn’t have a political philosophy of his own.

So, in the name of true traditional conservatism, I’m rooting for McMullen. I don’t give an owl’s hoot who controls the senate. That’s a party loyalist, partisan issue, battle. I hope MacMillan wins but it's doubtful he will. I think his campaign may have hit on a formula that may return true conservatism to the GOP and help cut out the cancer that is Trumpism. In districts/States where Dems have zero chance of winning they should not run a candidate and a moderate Republican should run as an Independent. That eliminates the primary problem and makes the election a binary choice between the moderate Republican and Trumper with no worries of them splitting the vote and the Dem slipping through the middle.

VP Gore ran to the left of Clinton and alienated voters in his state Tennessee and Clinton's Arkansas. If he didn't do that, Florida wouldn't have mattered but don't forget George Bush was a popular governor and, in the debates, he was more likable gore acted like a snob. AL even walked up to Bush.
