Mitch McConnell Sets Friday Vote to Thwart Filibuster of Brett Kavanaugh

Breaking: McConnell filed cloture to end debate on the Kavanaugh vote coming this Saturday.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell followed through late Wednesday in setting up a Friday vote to limit debate on Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination.

Under Senate rules, the key vote on McConnell’s cloture motion will take place one hour after the Senate convenes Friday. The Republicans needed to get the motion to limit debate before the end of the calendar day Wednesday to allow the Friday vote.

If all goes according to plan, the vote will take place one day after senators get a chance to review supplemental background information from an FBI inquiry into allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh.

If McConnell musters a majority of senators to vote to limit debate on Kavanaugh, there would then be up to 30 hours of debate, meaning the final vote on confirmation would most likely come on Saturday.

incidentally...
What is a cloture in the Senate?
The cloture rule–Rule 22–is the only formal procedure that Senate rules provide for breaking a filibuster. A filibuster is an attempt to block or delay Senate action on a bill or other matter. Under cloture, the Senate may limit consideration of a pending matter to 30 additional hours of debate.

Guessing this means they've peeked at the findings and think they have the votes for Friday. Soros' paid lackeys are probably lining up outside Flake's door right about now.

It won't only be the media. I said, and still believe they have a few more women stashed in the attic, awaiting to tell the public their sad stories.
Should we start passing the tissues? Que the violins...

It was and has been a sham investigation. Not what Flake asked for nor what he expected. Same for Collins and Murkowski. Boils down now to whether the three of them just decide to weasel out and accept these findings based on an entirely WH controlled and managed investigation. Welcome to Trumpistan.

Mitch McConnell Sets Friday Vote...

Slimy leftists agreed to a one week delay so the FBI could take a look at Kav. Now the kookers are whining about their agreement.

I love the Republican double talk.

When we used the nuclear option it was the most horrific thing, the most dangerous threat to America, and blah blah blah.

Now? They use it as their first and only option.

That was not what Flake agreed to. Take a look at Kav. Thats rich.

It will simply be an issue of whether or how Flake, Collins and Murkowski play this.
- Murkowski has more than a few issues on her plate that will make it hard to vote yes
- Collins has been played regularly by her own caucus. So its hard to tell where she will go with this sham. Her constituents might have had enough of seeing her played like a violin
- Flake has no political future at all if he just allows himself to be bent over the desk with sand included. He and Murkowski might be the most reliable No's

Things might look a little better for Kavanaugh being rejected if Chuck Schumer were not an utter complete waste of time. He has no ability to hold his caucus together and you can't even trust him not to stab his own in the back and make no effort to keep his caucus together. All it will take is McConnell cutting his next of an endless string of deals with Schumer and Chucky will crumble and stab his own caucus in the back. The very first thing the dems should do as soon as they have a chance is get rid of Chuck Schumer. Mitch McConnell will be erecting statues to Schumer at the end of their respective careers.

Maybe that idiot Dingy Harry shouldn't have change the rule. It's the left's own damn fault. They just gotta deal with it and quit their incessant whining about it. Leftists are never happy.

Dingy was warned too. That stupido.

While Reed was wrong, SC Justices are neither Federal District Judges nor Federal Appellate Court Judges. McConnell owns this change for SC Justices entirely. Can't blame it Harry.

Republicans warned Reid not to do it because one day they would be in control... but he didn't listen and now democrats are going to suffer for that decision.

Horse manure. Reed was wrong. But SC Justices are not Federal Court Judges. McConnell owns the change for SC Justices entirely.

Sounds like Kav could be on the bench as soon as Saturday.

LMMFAO... You believe whatever you have to... the rest of us will simply embrace reality.

Its not a matter of belief. Federal Court Judges are Federal Court Judges and SC Justices are SC Justices. Apples and Oranges. Not more complicated than that.

Resist, resist, resist...lies, lies, and more lies... Delay, delay, delay.

A sham investigation????
You would not have said that if it had gone your way... who the heck are you trying to kid?

Conducted this way, I would have called it a sham no matter the result...which we actually don't know as yet because Flake, Collins and Murkowski may just resist the temptation to look like utter pawns. So you are claim is premature and meritless.

Its a sham because while the President was saying it would be an investigation that was allowed to follow its natural course, the entire investigation was controlled and managed to keep from exposing even information about the actual allegations worthy of investigation, those from Ford and Ramirez.

Even if he isn't voted in, I'm willing to bet the next person will have an accuser as well. It's a sure fire way to stall until the midterms.

Get real. If there was a there, THERE, I'd validate your point.
I remember your Democrats seated on the senate judiciary committee asking for a few days, or a week at most and suddenly they move the goal posts on Monday of this week.
Don't make me bring their quotes here, or

It was a sham. Frankly I would not myself recommend the dems ask to take the investigation to Monday because there is no reason to believe it will be anything more than more sham.

Flake can take his fake outrage and stuff it where the sun doesn't shine.
We don't need RINOs in the senate.

Good. I hope and pray Judge Kavanaugh and his family will have a good weekend... take some time off, and begin their healing journey.
