ops. That wasn't supposed to slip out between McConnell's lips when answering a reporter in public. There appears to exist a separation of African Americans and Americans after all. I'm sure that he didn't mean it.

At the news conference, reporter Pablo Manríquez asked McConnell what his message was for voters of color who are concerned about their voting rights ahead of November's midterm elections.

"Well, the concern is misplaced," McConnell replied. "Because if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans."

Moscow Mitch just said the quiet part out loud.

after 4 years of trump, this is "racism light"....but it appeals to Trumpers

Meh. I can't stand the man, but I think he misspoke and meant to say "all other" Americans.

I think this is a reasonable assessment. And the answer to the OP is "no." There is only one form of American citizenship and all citizens are equal under our Constitution.

Yeah, that's a Freudian slip right there.

This is just more BS from the left media. McConnell stated a fact about the % of americans voting and since the question was what does he tell black americans about the voting rights bill, he broke it down into the amount of black vote. The democrats have been bragging about the largest turnout in history and now they need another voting act. What for, they got the largest turnout, obviously the voting numbers are going up and people are voting.
What's happened is the left stuck their foot in their mouths again, saying one thing then trying to create a crisis out of something that was doing well in the numbers.
The concern for black americans should be when are democrats going to follow through on all the promised they make "pre-election" in exchange for the black vote.
Really I expected some horrible comment and there isn't one, just some over liberal journalist trying to make something out of nothing.

Here's what was printed,

I want to see the audio/video. It would be very much like the left media to have conveniently omitted the word "other" in their report. The left has done this so many times to shape the message they want and then claim "oversight" when they get caught.
But, even without it it's a nothing burger, he answered a question aimed at black voters.

But, we should by no means expect the righties that feigned outrage about things they could not care less about when Biden misspoke to so the same here.

For example, flubbing a line and saying that "poor children" are just as bright as "white children" when it was obvious what he was saying, which apparently proved he "is a racist", as I am told...

It was a news conference, shouldn't there be an audio and or video? Let's see it.

A bit of a faux pas there. But I don't think he actually meant it as it's being taken.

Did anyone ever think good ole' Mitch was not a racist?

I don't think so.

This IS the same Mitch McConnell who just yesterday ordered 50 GOP Senators to filibuster the critically important voting legislation.

Critically important to all, but especially to people of color. The same 'ol Jim Crow tactics of yesteryear.

I get your point. I just can't act like them.

Legally the answer is "No.".

In practice the answer is "Yes.".

When the reality and the theory do not accord, go with the reality (so that's the way I voted).

Quite likely.

I'm sure that he believes that any "Black Republican" is just as much of an "American" as any other "Republican" is (well, provided that they don't get uppity and always ride at the back of the bus).

Play the race card.... Loud and proud!

Democrats more desperate each day we get closer to the 2022 election.

In depth astutely observed. How different a meaning makes if the word 'other' were used before the word "Americans". Myself, my mind would have automatically placed an emphasis on the word "voters" since stating at first "African American voters" then by ending that statement with the words 'other voters'. A natural connection.

That largest turnout was due to things that the Republicans in various states are now blocking, making laws to reduce access to. And they are even working at stacking the deck for counting and deciding on whether "shenanigans" took place in their favor.

Hell, all white people do this. Parents are outraged over teaching CRT. They don't say white is just one example. But then, "they don't see race."
