Colorado police pepper-spray misbehaving boy, 8 - Yahoo! News
Aww... those mean police officers.
Now Mom is going around on talk shows with her story of police brutality. I wish she'd just learn to parent her brat isntead of begging the public for attention.
Again, hats off to the officers for keeping cool heads and responding appropriately.
Here's the little terror. He doesn't look like a small kid.
I have 3. One is a 10 yr old with Aspergers, who on occasion can get out of hand. Had this been my kid, in the exact same situation... I'd still support the officers actions.
Now... go ahead and tell me I'm a bad parent for not wanting to kick officer ass.
You make a very strong point, but I just dont see how it would have taken much effort to subdue the boy
That's you. I would react much differently. You don't know me, so you can't say that I'm full of ****. So, hows about we just stick to the topic?
So to better understand your argument apdst.
If they had "grabbed his arm and spanked his ass" instead of pepper spraying him...you wouldn't have went "ape-****" and had your "nigga side" come out then?
Was I talking to you?
To say you'd attack police officers... ARMED police officers... because they used pepper spray on your out of control kid in that situation... sorry.... it's bull****. I honestly do not believe you're that ****ing stupid, dude.
And, again, when it comes to my kids, I'll get, "****ing stupid", in a heart beat.
You're catching on.
My opinion is the same as Zyph's and you're posting on an open forum, so I felt free to answer your question. How does it affect your position now that I can answer "yes" to your question and still espouse the point of view that the police response was entirely appropriate in this case? :2razz:
Btw, have you ever used an OC spray or been exposed to one? I'm just trying to determine why you think this use of an orgainc, non-lethal defensive measure was so earthshattering when deployed against a smaller-than-adult target.
I doubt it would taken a ton of effort. I do think though that the chance of harm for the cops OR the boy would be higher trying to subdue him then going the pepper spray route, which is why I don't have an issue with it.
If they chose to go physicaly I wouldn't be amazingly bothered by that either, but I think they would've opened themselves up to far more issues had they done that.
So physically assulting your kid, something that if done too hard or if the child resisted could've resulted in bruising, sprains, dislocations, or breaks wouldn't cause you to go "ape****" but something that will sting his eyes for a few hours would.
Yeah, i'm catching on. I'm not understanding the logic at all, but I'm catching on.
The North Carolina study found that the number of injuries to police officers
and suspects declined after pepper spray was introduced. Complaints that the
police used excessive force also declined.
The study of in-custody deaths concluded that pepper spray contributed to
death in two of the 63 cases, both involving people with asthma. In the other
cases, the researcher concluded that death was caused by the arrestee's drug
use, disease, positional asphyxia, or a combination of these factors.
apparently only if they are pepper sprayed. If they are physically beaten, no big woop, eh dog?
This study was done on adolesents?
Do you understand the difference between a spanking and a beating?
This study was done on adolesents?
apparently more than you understand good vs. bad parenting.
Adolescents react differently to OC spray than adults? What are you trying to imply?
Oh, so now I'm a bad parent? :rofl
I don't know. Do they?
Well, no one would accuse you of that, but attacking a police officer who was reasonably performing his job sure doesn't set a stellar example for Junior does it, especially when Junior was just threatening to stab said officer, but hey, you raise your kids how you see fit and when they're adults, THEN maybe we'll judge you on how you parented them.
No, they don't. Any other questions?
Key word being, "reasonable". IMO, pepper spraying my kid would be un-reasonable.
