Yes, the title and first link is to a Substack. And yes, it's from Ken Klippenstein.

Trump is going to try to go after Mexican cartels, in Mexico, and will try to do so with or without permission from the Mexican government. Trump is willing to ignore laws, rules, and policy recommendations just as long as he sees progress in his goals. The idea here is not "boots on the ground" or an invasion, but tactical strikes much like the military and CIA have done in the Middle East.

Ken has confirmation.

Experts on U.S.-Mexico relations have told Newsweek that reported plans by the Trump administration for
potential military operations against cartels in Mexico would be condemned as an act of aggression that
could have disastrous unintended consequences — while also "fundamentally misdiagnosing" how the
groups operate.

The reported plans, first revealed by independent journalist Ken Klippenstein, are set to be ready for mid-
September, and would involve action on Mexican soil at the direction of President Donald Trump.

"Absent Mexican consent, any military action in Mexico will be condemned, I believe justifiably, as an act
of aggression in violation of the most basic provision of the UN Charter and customary international law,"
Geoffrey Corn, director of the Center for Military Law and Policy at Texas Tech School of Law, told Newsweek.

If Trump does this without the blessing of the Mexican government, the world will be done with us one and for all. Trump will turn us into a hostile nation who is willing to invade another country's sovereignty because of the narcissism of one man. Much like the tariffs are all the result of one man.

And he's willing to do this to one of our closest allies and neighbors.

Maybe one day Congress will grow a spine and stop this despot.

Why doesn’t he bomb them in the suburbs of Atlanta? (Pssst yeah there are members of the cartel here.)

The Generalissimo trying so hard to present himself as "The Peace President" is a laffer all the way.

I guess if Trump does this, his supporters will be equally happy with Mexico bombing US gun manufacturers so that they can end the supply of guns to Mexican criminals??

Go after the guns, crack down on arms sales to the Cartels.... Oh, right, the gun lobby would never allow it.

First of all, Airyaman, I don't think you understand the concept of "confirmation". Articles from the echo chamber are not considered confirmation. Those three articles referenced Klippenstein. They didn't support him with other sources.

Second, Klippenstein betrayed his alignment with the Trump hating IC deep state by sourcing a comment to "one senior intelligence official". I hope he and his source are taking good precautions. I guarantee that the ODNI is trying to find that deep state scumbag.

And finally, military plans are constantly being developed and updated for a wide variety of scenarios. Hell, there are likely plans in the files for a total US invasion of Mexico. That's just how it works and that doesn't mean the US has any intention of executing such plans.

So, Airyaman, along with upgrading your understanding of "confirmation", I suggest you dial back the Chicken Littleism.

The Pentagon did not confirm or deny the potential operations when pressed by the Daily Mail.

The link in the OP is good military stuff but it's not the only media report about Trump, the cartels in Mexico and the US special operations forces, CIA, and the existing active duty US forces at the border detached from the 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Carson in Colorado.

So let's start with the Generalissimo Trump's ambassador to Mexico who's a retired Army Green Beret who's spent 20 years in the CIA doing "sensitive" paramilitary operations abroad. Ron Johnson (not the US Senator) was ambassador to El Salvador where the US Navy conducts aerial surveillance and spotting of drug operations using the country's dual use airport. Johnson has contacts in US SpOps command, CIA, local military chiefs and regional diplomats; he's known too for ferreting out cartel owned officials in the government and the military.

The main targeting and concomitant packaging of which explosives in what amount continues to be controlled from Fort Bragg in NC. While US Northern Command at Colorado Springs is in overall command of this still unnamed operation, Ft. Bragg is the HQ of both the Army Special Operations Command and the Joint Special Operations Command which has the Army Delta Force, the Navy Seal Team Six and the longstanding and deliberately unsung Marine Raider Force.

This anti-cartel operation will be driven by a massive drone attack force supported by SpOps boots on the ground delivered by helo airlift into the area of central Mexico where the cartels are concentrated. The Army Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division and the Aviation Support Brigade also from the 4th ID -- both of which are at the border -- are backup to include any emergency evacuation, and have served as a diversion for the cartels to consider. The 250 8-wheel fast attack Strykers would however have a long haul without surprise to get into central Mexico. Hence the drone based attack that doesn't look or seem like the dreaded word "invasion" as the word is known historically to mean massive troops and tanks on the ground supported by equally mobile field artillery.

The best the Generalissimo could do concerning the Laws of War is what the Pentagon offers, modest as it is, which is the argument that drugs are an attack, Mexico is unable to prevent use of its territory for this attack, and special operations raids are thus a proportional response. Yet this is while the "peace president" Generalissimo Trump loves to make the National Guard military as his hammer by deploying a whopping 5000 troops to central LA, and now 1800 overkill NG forces from several armband states to Washington DC -- because the preppie kid Big Balls got his fragile fair face stomped.

President Donald Trump has directed the Pentagon to prepare options to
use military force against Latin American drug cartels, according to
reports by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and other news
organizations.

Trump has prioritized stopping illicit drugs, including fentanyl, from
entering the U.S., and this decision is his administration’s most aggressive
thus far to dismantle drug trafficking organizations. According to a senior
officials consulted by the WSJ, the options under discussion are focused
on special forces operations, intelligence support, and precision targeting.
In tandem, the newspaper reported, the U.S. and Mexican officials are
drafting an agreement that would include intelligence sharing and
enforcement coordination in acting against cartels.

On Friday, President Claudia Sheinbaum said that Mexico had been
informed about Trump’s directive to the Pentagon and that it solely
concerned activity in the U.S., and she rejected the use of U.S. military
forces in her country. Analysts in the region are still trying to decipher
what Trump’s order could mean, the NYT reported.

President Trump has reportedly signed a directive for the Pentagon to start
using military force against certain drug cartels that have been designated
foreign terrorist organizations.

The New York Times reported Trump signed the directive in secret, providing
a justification for potential military operations against the criminal organizations.

The Times reported that U.S. military officials have started drawing up plans
for how the military could target cartels. But any unilateral strikes against the
groups could also raise legal issues if individuals are killed who do not pose an
imminent threat or who are not part of a conflict where Congress has authorized
military action.

But the Epstein files aren't in Mexico. Why attack them?

I guess if Trump does this, his supporters will be equally happy with Mexico bombing US gun manufacturers so that they can end the supply of guns to Mexican criminals??
That’s their option. 🤷‍♂️

The “Peace President” is going to invade Mexico.

Personally, I can’t wait to see the reaction when a US military member is killed by a Mexican civilian for invading their home.

Luckily, Mexican drug cartels are gentle, easy-going folks like Muslim fundamentalists, so we need not fear reprisals.

Wipe out the cartels tomorrow and they'll be replaced by next Wednesday. That's how lucrative it is supplying the American demand for drugs.
And those people who will replace the cartels? They're all in favour, they're cheering the prospect of the US military clearing the way for them.
