For anybody here who has Windows Vista, you will be happy to know that its replacement, Windows 7, will be available as a free download as of Friday, 9 January. It is much faster, and does not have all those nagging "security alerts" that Vista has. Now, for the caveat. I don't know if this beta release is going to be crippled, forcing you to purchase the commercial version when it comes out. Also, I don't know if all the bugs have been ironed out, and that Microsoft isn't using its clients as guinea pigs to get their software tested without having to pay testers to do it. But, if you have Vista, and are a bit on the adventurous side, you might give the Windows 7 Beta a try. It can't be any worse than what you are running right now. As for me, I have XP on my Windows partition, so am going to stand pat for right now.
