Microsoft laid off DEI team: Report

Fine with this. Competence and qualification should be the only measure for hiring. Anything else is an unfair prejudice.
And DEI doesn't affect those who do at all. Like my business, I don't notice because I hire diversely. It's for those who wouldn't because they prefer working with white males. That's the issue.

I'm sure they'll be welcomed at Google or Meta. Or not.

Tech companies like Google and Meta made cuts to DEI programs in 2023 after big promises in prior years

Well, that would suck. They can't walk out the door of a toxic workplace right into an identical toxic workplace?

I don't agree and I own a business. It's not been bad for me or even impacted my business at all. That's why I find this outcry difficult to understand. It's as if you guys think nobodies qualified unless they're white and male. That surely can't be what you're thinking, so I'm asking for a reason that makes sense.
"As if"? Strawman much?

Dude, you guys come right out and say it.

A woman or a black person, or worse yet, a black woman in a professional position and your immediate, go-to response is that the person was a DEI hire.

What makes it funny is that You People think it doesn't make you look like Lester Maddox.

They are cutting dead weight. At least they came to their senses like Tractor Supply etc.

DEI is toxic to a business and its employees. It foments division and envy and destroys camaraderie. It's also racist.

That's why so many companies are rejecting it.

I would rather work with pretty women instead of some schwantz 😳

That makes no sense at all.
Just hire those best suited for the position.
If that means all asian, great. All black, great. All women, great. All white, again, great.
Hiring should be blinded, in a sense. If you start paying attention to anything but competence, then I'm afraid you have found yourself in a bigoted perspective, although I'm sure you don't mean to be. You seem very well intentioned.

These issues are why Republicans do bad on economic issues. Clearly they do not listen to those who study business. There's a deeper reason Republicans are getting rid of diversity, and I'd love for an honest answer.

World Economic Forum research shows that companies with above-average diversity scores drive 45% average revenue from innovation, while companies with below-average diversity scores drive only 26%.Oct 27, 2021

They’re not looking to be doing a lot of hiring anytime soon is the bottom line.

You don’t need a DEI team when you’re going to be retracting not expanding your human workforce.

Good for you. My company's workers are the very best people we could find, without regard for their skin color or their privates.
I didn't even think of those issues when hiring. Again, do you think minorities and women lack quality? Are you saying I don't chose qualities workers? That's pretty insulting, but you know that, so what's the real reason you want rid of it?

I see. Well, it sends a message for sure and they know this.

Hiring a diverse workforce is an excellent business strategy, but you have to pretend that you aren't because the The Great Replacement Theory hounds are baying at your door.

The implication (as I read it) is that you're naturally going to get diversity if you pay no attention to skin color and privates when hiring. It's obvious that some of the best will be women and minorities.

Well, we're about to find out aren't we. I think that holds true for some, and always has, DEI wasn't for those groups. It was for those "other" groups that are convinced they can't find quality if someone has brown skin, or a vagina. I do hope all the studies on this fact have not gone to waste.

Look, historically women and minorities were pushed out of important positions and held back because people in society at that time accepted that it's important to pay attention to skin tone and a person's privates.

We should have learned the principle of not putting importance on that when hiring.

Instead what we fell into was that "it's actually great to pay attention to skin tone and a person's privates when hiring, just run it in reverse now."

Goddam it's frustrating to watch. We're once again training the next generation to think along lines of racial and sexual discrimination... we don't think that's going to go off the rails again, at all?
