A Detroit man has been ordered to pay $30,000 in child support despite not being the father.
Carnell Alexander has proven in a DNA test he is not the father of the child born in 1987, but the state wants him to pay anyway - and is threatening him with prison if he does not.
The situation arose when an ex-partner of Mr Alexander put him down as the father of her child in an application for financial support from the state in the late 80s,
She began receiving support, and as far as the state was concerned Mr Alexander was liable to pay it back.
A court order was issued notifying him of his obligation to pay, and a process server assigned to deliver the notice told the court he had done so but that Mr Alexander had refused to sign a receipt.

Great example of how our officials like the money. So much, they don’t care about justice. You don’t live in US, weren’t born in US and don’t plan to live in US? You pay taxes to US! You are not the father of a child? Pay the child support!

Someone has to support those kids.
Actually after there is a court order to pay he would have to sue to have it reversed. I have heard of this before, actually someone I knew had to pay child support for a kid he wasnt sure was his or not. Then DNA testing hit the scene. The kid wasnt his, so his attorney said he could probably get the order to pay reversed but definately not get the payments he had already paid. By that time though he just treated the kid like he was his so long he kept paying.
Thirty grand to pay the child support, and what to sue to have the judgement reversed? Thirty five, maybe? This is how the government screws citizens.
Now, the kid was born in '87, which would make him/her 27 now, and still they want child support? Isn't there some statute of limitations?
So we should just force a random person to pay it that isn't the father? How is that just? How would you like to pay a big chunk of your paycheck to some kid who isn't yours for the next 18 years?
I've been doing it for quite a while and it doesn't cramp my lifestyle. I've paid a lot more than $30,000.00
Life goes on.

You will if a court orders you to.
One way or another.

Then I'll countersue the SECOND I'm ordered to and of course go to the press and all that.
That's just moronic, and the fact that you can care less if people are forced to pay for some kid that isn't theirs is more moronic.

Speaking of that. A buddy of mine won $25,000 at the casino in Shelbyville Monday. He is kinda scumbag and was behind on his child support. They took it and his taxes out of the winnings. He still had enough to buy me a beer.
$25,000?
Wow, how did they know he had back child support due. Does that show up in some kind of search?
Get your beer soon before he disappears.
One would think. You would think that a 27-year old would be able to support him/her self, eh?
I was paying my own way when I was 16.
