Memorial Remembering the USS Liberty

It has nothing to do with any particular creed, race, or nationality. It has to do with men with bad intent or misguided notions being at the helm of high office and making terrible decisions in our name. I can think of no other military group that suffered so much in one day that are so ignored by our nations leaders, except for those that retire and come out an speak as did the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Moorer. Even when the captain of the USS Liberty received his Medal of Honor for his actions that day, it was given in a private ceremony in the Navy Shipyards in Virginia, and by an Admiral, not by the President of the United States, as is the tradition.

It is time that their recognition being given its full do as is allowed for all of America's fighting men and women.

Like the 2 companies of British Parachutists that engaged each other in an hour long firefight during the Malvinas War.

Or the hundreds of Allied killed and wounded when an Australian fighter attacked and strafed an Allied troop train.

Maybe we should erect memorials to those incidents also, as well as the over 300 US soldiers killed by the British in shelling during a D-day rehearsal.

Any incident where an attack is made upon a non-hostile force is classified as a "Friendly Fire Incident". It may be your own forces, forces of an allied nation, attacks upon neutral forces, or even against noncombatant civilians. Unless it is an enemy that is being engaged, it is a Friendly Fire incident.

So unless you are trying to make the claim that the US was there with hostile intents and therefore was a legitimate target, this is indeed a Friendly Fire incident.

He was the main investigator of the incident when it happened, and later rose to the position of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
