So I found out today that scheduling my son's MrI has been delayed because basically Duke is behind in reviewing their faxes by over 10 days. They said they may get to the fax from my son's doctor in the next 2 days, despite it going to them on the 18th.

For anyone who works in the medical field or who may just have experience with this, is this normal? How does this get so far behind? I get that it is Duke, a well known, great hospital. But this seems like a huge deal to have this delay. This is holding up the scheduling of his MrI, which could take another few weeks to get even after scheduled. Which means delays in coming up with a plan to control his seizures, since we have to find out if his tumor/mass has grown or if something else is going on.

Never had a problem in Canada. Ditto my wife. Must be because of our inferior socialist government funded health care system.

Considering the issues that come from switching insurance every few years and his meds, I wouldn't mind having that health care system here, but unfortunately that is not what we are working with.

Like I said, we do like Duke and understand that they are one of those hospitals that probably do get a lot of patients from even other parts of the world/country because of how well they tend to do, but this is just frustrating. I just don't understand how there can be that many days of faxes they are behind on.
