And I remember all the clothes rending going on here about how eeevil the Israelis were for denying Gaza the ability to import cement to "rebuild".
Maybe some of those folks want to acknowledge, however belatedly, that Israel was right and they were wrong?
I don't believe it is an accident that international humanitarian law prohibits only restrictions on necessities for life. Concrete and steel are dual use and Hamas effectively steals those resources for its own purposes. Personally, I don't believe Israel should accept a return to the status quo ante. An effort to dismantle the Hamas infrastructure and safeguards to substantially eliminate Hamas' diversion of resources are reasonable starting points for a more effective approach that the past ceasefires.
