To insure he becomes Speaker of the House, McCarthy will have to make promises he may rue the day he made. It will be a sure thing that he will keep his position only as long as he keeps his promises and with all the crazies in the House GOP, that will be interesting to watch. Beyond the multiple investigations, there could be ten or more, going from Hunter Biden to those who investigated Trump, there will be a lot of very, very right wing bills concerning everything from book banning to what you can and can not teach in schools. the really big one will be trying to impeach Biden. It will be interesting to see how McCarthy goes about trying to limit the damage to future elections.

1. I agree with you that McCarthy will have to toe the America First line if he wants to make good on this second chance he's been given. But...be assured that the rank and file America First Republicans will be watching his every move.

2. Yes. There will be investigations...as there should be. There is so much corruption in the executive branch, alone, that the House has more than enough to keep them busy for years to come.

3. No. There won't be much in the way of the "right wing bills" that have you worried. Even if the Republican House were to pass any such bills, they won't get past the Democratic Senate...let alone past the Biden pukes. McCarthy won't be wasting his time on that kind of stuff.

Anyone who thinks they're going to lead the herd of rabid housecats that currently occupy the republican seats in the house is utterly delusional.

Give us a list and a link to "all" of the corruption if you can?

Although I was certain that the GOP would win the House I did not think McCarthy would get the gavel. What I didn't count on was such a small majority. I was certain that the Freedom Caucus, led by MTG and backed by Trump, would line up against him. As it is MTG is supporting him because she says they can't risk a situation where Dems vote with moderate Republicans for a moderate leader. So she and others like her are supporting McCarthy in exchange for ridiculous demands and he'll cave to them because he wants the gavel that bad. The next two years will he be a circus alright all to the detriment of the GOP in 2024.

LOL!!

Stupid demand.

Just keep an eye on the various House committees. You get what you want.

Wasn't his soul kept in a vault in DJT's office at MAL?

One cannot sell what one lacks from the get go…

McCarthy won’t make speaker. That’s my prediction. His soul was bared for all to see when he backtracked on the jan 6 debacle and sided with Trump. He’s damaged goods now in a free America.

At this point I don’t see the speaker being anybody who’s not a moderate by US standards. There are barely 218 votes on the rep side.

don't most republicans have to sell their souls these days?

It's going to be an interesting situation between the GOP members who want to steer the party to a more centrist position and those who want to keep pushing it in a direction that will likely alienate it further. McCarthy doesn't strike me as the kind of leader who can keep the balance between both interests since he tends to fold like a cheap suit.

You mean the conspiracy kids taking over the House. They still believe the election was stolen and that Trump is still president. LOL

They're trying to sell them but the Devil is still catching up with all the souls he's collected since Trump became the republican nominee in 2016. The bureaucracy in Hell is worse than the DMV.

I think if the GOP leadership does any introspection they will come to the conclusion they have drifted too far with the "vocal minority" in their party.
With inflation where it is at, Biden approval rating being so low and all the money that was pumped into fringe candidates they should have taken a much large majority in the House and swung at least two Senate seats.
They need to do what they can to appeal to younger voters and the true independents.

That and increase the gain they've made in some minority communities. They could expand that much more but since they insist on white grievance politics, it makes them off putting in a more general way to those communities. Had the GOP been the party of old, this midterm election would likely have been much worse for Democrats.

Too late for that. His soul is long gone. It disappeared days after 1-6 when he got on a plane to kiss the vomit's ring.

McCarthy must must be accustomed to making promises he knows he will NOT keep. It is his everyday behavior on the campaign trail.
