Mayors, rabbis arrested in NJ corruption probe
Mayors, rabbis arrested in NJ corruption probe | U.S. | Reuters
Two northern New Jersey mayors, several rabbis and other politicians were arrested on Thursday in a federal investigation into public corruption and international money laundering, U.S. authorities said.
Among the approximately 30 people arrested were Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, who took office 23 days ago, Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, state Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt and Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark.
Also arrested in the money-laundering investigation were several rabbis in New York and New Jersey, the federal prosecutor's office said.
The international money-laundering was "high volume," it said.
Local television showed images of rabbis and the two mayors taken into federal custody in Newark, New Jersey
This is big. This will have ramifications on the Governers race. Stay tuned. That said, corruption in NJ? This may not be *BN* worthy!
Are these democrats or republican mayors? Does this make a difference in the national stage?
I received a "CNN Breaking News" e-mail about this. This is unquestionably BN worthy!
I get those too, just don't tell anyone. :3oops:I received a "CNN Breaking News" e-mail about this. This is unquestionably BN worthy!

She's a hot momma, she should be a centerpiece. But not quite as BN worthy as CNN's current centerpiece........
you'll never guess what it is......
drumroll please..........
Palin!
It is news.Corrupt politicians in NJ? That's about as breaking news as high tide today.
It is news.
Corruption in NJ and somebody's actually getting arrested.
How is that NOT breaking news?
Finally some of the NJ scum is removed from public service. I see the mayors were both Democrats. Good riddance.
one of the best local news headlines I've ever read was "Camden: City accounting in in turmoil."
:doh
Imagine, what goes on in Camden isn't above board.
It does not matter if these schmoes were politicians, appointed officials, or so-called religious leaders ( rabbis) if hey are criminals they nned to be arrested, tried and convicted. If the crime warrents it they nned to be executed. No excuse here !!!
Why would they? It's not like a little thing like death would have kept anyone from voting."Camden: entire city apparently murdered in 1993, nobody noticed until this week"
Interesting that some people apparently find it more important that they are Demoncrats then that they are "NJ scum ". BTW are not most mayors in NJ Demoncrats ? So there is surprise that there are corrupt politicians and Democratic party in NJ.
Not in the Democratic Party anyway. :mrgreen:Why would they? It's not like a little thing like death would have kept anyone from voting.

unless the one accused (mind you just accused, not arrested or convicted) is named PalinIt does not matter if these schmoes were politicians, appointed officials, or so-called religious leaders ( rabbis) if hey are criminals they nned to be arrested, tried and convicted. Unlike Republicans, Democrats don't make excuses for their scum. That there are corrupt politicians in NJ is no surprise, that they were caught is a big surprise, considering the level of overall corruption in the Soprano State.
Bill @#$% Clinton!
Gimme a @#$% break. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Unlike Republicans, Democrats don't make excuses for their scum.
