Maybe he's not turning himself in after all

Excellent plan.. Then a warrant is issued for his arrest and DeSantis can show us what a constitutionalist he is... In the mean time, Trump can not travel to any state that he thinks will nab him on an outstanding warrant... Brilliant!
Fine, then civil war maybe sounds like a good option if it means separating the bad states from the good states. Only problem is, it won't be fought along some Mason Dixon type line.

You liberals don't want to see Trump reelected, then maybe you ought to consider what the backlash to this silly antic might result in when it causes the entire Republican base to get behind Donald Trump. Something until just recently was probably not going to happen.

DeSantis has no power to block extradition.

Article IV, Section 2
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on Demand of the executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.

Trump can fight extradition in court, but DeSantis can't block it.
Which means DeSantis himself can be charged with obstruction of justice.

Is this tweet below appropriate free speech, Fishking?

Should Trump replace DA Bragg's image with that of the presiding Judge Merchan?
I'll tell you why I believe Trump supporters don't want Trump gagged: They know he'll get his ass thrown in jail. And you know what? A lot of good citizens are going to say, "Good for the lousy S.O.B.".

Trump attacked & bullied Dems, Liberals, and Minorities to no end while in office, while all the time he himself was impervious & invulnerable due his Presidentially immunity. He punched down from the bully pulpit all day & night long, using the bully pulpit against those more vulnerable than he. No one could punch back. He was untouchable.

But now it's Trump that's vulnerable, and subject to an adversary more powerful than he. And he ain't gonna' get much sympathy, I'll tell you that! He's getting what he deserves, Fishking. Let justice prevail.

Any idiot going to war over Trump deserves what they will get... Trump's legal problems are just getting started...

Anyone else thinking Trump's plane makes a sharp right at North Carolina?

Article IV, Section 1:

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

DeSantis cannot prevent the state court from performing its duty.

For a person to be extradited interstate, 18 U.S.C. § 3182 requires:

  • An executive authority demand of the jurisdiction to which a person that is a fugitive from justice has fled.
  • The requesting executive must also produce a copy of an indictment found or an affidavit made before a magistrate of any state or territory. The document must charge the fugitive demanded with having committed treason, felony, or other crime, and it must be certified as authentic by the governor or chief magistrate of the state or territory from where the person so charged has fled.
  • The executive receiving the request must then cause the fugitive to be arrested and secure and to notify the requesting executive authority or agent to receive the fugitive.
  • An agent of the executive of the state demanding extradition must appear to receive the prisoner, which must occur within 30 days from time of arrest, or the prisoner may be released. Some states allow longer waiting periods, of up to 90 days.

The entire Republican's base isn't enough to get the FPOTUS reelected.

Any reasonable person understands that the DEM base is about 40%, the Republican Base is about 40% (I little less, but let's not quibble).

That means it's the 20% moderates/independents that really decide the elections and moderates and independents don't like trump.

For Trump Delusional Sycophants™ that's higher math. That is, it's math. Which is too scientific-y to be believed or condoned.

He's losing voters with his antics, not gaining them. The ones he needs, swing and independents.

Will Trump Get Gag Order In Manhattan DA Case? Here’s What That Would Mean—And Why It Could Land Him In Prison (Forbes, limited access)

TOPLINE

Former President Donald Trump is set to be arraigned Tuesday after he was indicted by the Manhattan district attorney’s office—and the court could impose a gag order that would cut him off from publicly discussing the case and impose legal consequences if he does, as the ex-president has already lashed out over his indictment and reportedly plans to ramp up his attacks.

A gag order is an order imposed by a judge in a criminal or civil case that blocks a party (including attorneys or witnesses) from publicly talking about the case, though the exact terms of the order and what can and cannot be said vary.

Legal experts cited by Insider and Bloomberg said it’s possible and even “extremely likely” the court could impose a gag order on Trump, particularly given security concerns arising from his attacks on prosecutors or other figures in the case, though there are First Amendment issues given that he’s running for president that could make any broad restrictions on his speech legally problematic.

Any gag order would likely be “narrowly tailored” to only cover certain kinds of information about the case, Katie Townsend, deputy executive director and legal director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, told Bloomberg.

If a gag order is violated, the party could be held in contempt of court, which in New York carries a punishment of a $1,000 fine and/or up to 30 days in prison.

Well, he never had me as a voter, but at some point if forced to draw a line in the sand, one just might vote for him, if only to send a big FU to the DC establishment.

How gross. Your FU would be to the country itself. And the world.

Why would they want to replace the establishment with something much worse? Sure, shake the establishment up but not with that shit show.

Some of us loyal GOP voters sent a message in 2020 by voting against Trump.

Weren't you listening.

In my case I voted GOP from 1980 through 2016. Yes I voted for a GOP candidate twice in 2016. (Once in the primary and once as a write-in in the general.)

That would be great theater. Trump on a two-day bus ride to Manhattan.

Trump is not a good choice, and just like in 2016 went, he turned out to be not a worse choice than HRC. Question should be: do you on the left really want to raise Trump's stock by going lower than he is capable of? This political hit from Manhattan should be being called out as bad form from everyone, including Biden, and every sane politician.

Trump isn't the issue here. An overreach in power in NY is.

Live coverage of the motorcade leaving Mor-a-Loser. Ones of ones of his support hosers present.
