So this guy said the quiet part out loud

Babies with disabilities are cost prohibitive for the school districts

Calls came promptly for him to resign over his insensitive comment

Of course the leftist apology card was deployed but most reasonable persons would conclude he's lying

---------------------------------

A local Democrat official in Massachusetts is facing calls to step down after complaining about the cost of special education for children with disabilities who are not aborted.

Michael Hugo, the chair of the Framingham Democratic Committee, made the remarks during a city council meeting when discussing a proclamation about access to abortion and crisis pregnancy centers in the city. He said crisis pregnancy centers could misdiagnose a defect in a baby in the womb, leading to them being born and becoming a strain on a school budget. He issued a public apology after 10 days of backlash from members of his own party and parents of special needs children.

Why does it seem that the only difference between politicians who say stupid things--is that the democrats seem to hold their party members accountable, but the Republicans seem to circle the wagons and elevate theirs to positions of power?

Is it just me or is that the trend others see as well?

There have been calls for him to resign. Has that action been started? Yes, some of those complaining are Democrats.

Did you see what taxman Mitt Romney said about his pals?

“Look, there is no place in either political party for this White nationalism or racism. It’s simply wrong … it’s evil as well,” Romney told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union

That's why I've always liked Romney :) However, he's very much out of favor with the rest of the Republicans so as a party, I don't see them calling for the resignation of some of their more egregious members.

I'm not a politician, so I can speak my mind on this. It is grossly irresponsible for a woman who knows her fetus has a severe disability, not to abort. It's not just that it will cost the government huge amounts to educate, and support throughout life, the resulting child. But in many cases the woman herself cannot cope with the burden of having a severely disabled child. It ruins her life, and the life of her husband/partner, and the lives of other children she may have.

The bitterest aspect of anti-abortion laws is that they bring into the world people who generally aren't very happy, despite putting a huge burden on all around them. Let's be clear: once they are born, I am for huge government and community investment in trying to make their lives as happy as possible. But I am absolutely opposed to the government telling a woman she can't relieve that collective suffering when the severely disabled fetus is still inside her. Abortion in ANY term is justified, in cases of severe disability.

VySky, you oppose public schools anyway. So what would YOU PERSONALLY be prepared to pay, to ensure that severely disabled children have a good life? Put your money where your mouth is.

I wonder if Romney will run for 2024? His previous run established him as a somewhat liberal balanced-budget kind of Republican, and they're pretty much extinct. But maybe some Republicans would see the sense of running someone so different to Trump. He'd have the Christian vote and that's not nothing.

What a failure of a thread. Democrats are calling for his resignation whereas people like MGT in the right who mock child victims of school shootings get re-elected. All you've done is highlight which party has integrity. 😂

My exact thought upon reading this story. Destructive people choose whatever party they want. Democrats pull them from leadership as quickly and openly as possible.

For the win.

Excellent post.

Same thing you pay for our current system. There are charities you can contribute if you are looking to give further.

Santos is still in the house.

Except instead they appointed her to the house Homeland Security committee.
But the point is about parties calling each other out. That was the discussion

Exactly--they didn't oust her--they elevated her.

Eleven. How many have voted to oust the liar Santos?
Oh, so we are keeping score? Back to the OP. How may of those calling for him to resign were Democrat since panties are being soiled because there were at lest a few. See there, we call out our own garbage. And has his removal been initiated?
