The raid was in connection with an investigation into alleged threats against President Joe Biden and others, according to two officials briefed on the case.

"One of the officials told ABC News that the investigation began in April and the U.S. Secret Service was notified by the FBI in June. In addition to threatening posts, the official said, the man under investigation suggested online he was making plans to take physical action. The threats had been deemed "credible," the official said."

Yes it is.... and this kind of thing, unfortunately, will serve to encourage Trump to encourage his cult to do more of this kind of thing. The Republican party is nothing but rot at this point. Certainly not every Republican is prone to such behavior, but the problem is that the Republicans are quicker to defend it than call it out. This includes their leadership and their members. They have become devoid of basic human decency. Its sick up and down; inside and out.
 
Disturbing. Its good that they were made so quickly aware. It's an unfortunate outcome.

AI in the future will wonder why humans posted their intent to do harm on social media...they'll chuckle, and say "well I suppose I'm glad they did, helped public safety".
 
Probably frustrated and angry about something that bullshit propaganda (Like Fox Noise) ..got his ire up.
I've got neighbors that get all upset after listening to some ridiculous crap by some nutter on the radio.

My Grandpa cannot have a calm political discussion debate. He is full MAGA. I do my best to not showcase emotion, and to be as calm and clear as I can. The slightest bit of pushback on something he says really sets him off into anger / nervousness.

Needless to say I avoid the topic when I am with him. He's 87 anyway, I'm not going to get him worked up.

Trump-appointed very conservative Republican Judge Michael Luttig, said this morning; "There is no Republican Party." No longer are Trump supporters a 'cult', they have clearly become the enemy of our democracy. We need to acknowledge this before we can start treating them as the 'enemy' they are, and treat their crimes as we would those of our enemies. Can I suggest Guantanamo where the 9–11 terrorists are living out the rest of their lives?

This report says the the man was from Utah.

"— A Utah man was shot to death by FBI agents Wednesday morning during a raid investigating threats to harm President Joe Biden.


The FBI’s Salt Lake City office said in a statement that the agency is reviewing the shooting, which happened around 6:15 a.m. in Provo.


Agents were attempting to serve arrest and search warrants at a residence when the shooting happened, the FBI said."
