It takes a special kind of hatred to do what this man did and in my opinion, this man is just as much a racist as members of the KKK, and therefore should be treated as such... Somehow, I don't think that will be the case. Hell, I wonder if this is even considered a hate crime in Illinois?

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- Sentencing will be held in January for a black man who admits posing as a member of the Ku Klux Klan in sending racist letters in 2006 to a police department and city hall in his former southwestern Illinois hometown of O'Fallon.

Justin Kidd, 28, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in East St. Louis to charges of conveying false threats in O'Fallon.

Here are some excerpts from the letters he sent to the O’Fallon Police Department on Nov. 9, 2006:

“Get all the blacks from Chevy Chase Apartments from out of O’Fallon before we burn the [w]hole complex down. KKK warning.”

That was followed by the following letter mailed to O’Fallon City Hall on Nov. 18, 2006:

“Get all the blacks out of O’Fallon before we start burning the[ir] houses down. KKK warning.”

Trying to stoke racial hatred... How delightful...

I find this pretty crazy and pretty humorous.

P.S. No doubt there was hatred involved... But what kind of hatred was this "special kind" of hatred?

"Special kind" of hatred is just an expression for "deep seeded" or "extreme" hatred...

Let me guess, you want to turn the tables and acuse me of being racist?

What the man did was clearly wrong and should be severely punished. However to put this man at the same level as the KKK is over the top and wrong.

You know who and what you are, so why does it matter what someone says on a forum such as DP?

Its not like he accused elected representatives of citizens of the country of wanting to see blacks hanging from trees.

I was giving a far fetched example. That would never happen...right?

I wonder if there is a local KKK group in that area and when they saw that article they said, "THEY ARE ON TO US!"

Some people, like this man, tries to start stuff for no reason. Probably to create tensions between the communities as was mentioned.

Others...like the young woman that planted the noose, or democrat congressmen...do it specifically to incite racial hatred. They should be charged with hate crimes. Their actuons are repulsive.

After reading the OP, I find it interesting that Chevy Chase has his own apartment building in Illinois. Why that is not front page news on every newspaper in the nation is a mystery to me.

Humorous?
Yes

You think trying to stoke racial hatred in black communities is funny? Really?
Yes i do. I do indeed. A black man dressing up as the KKK kind of ironic isnt it? I find that kind of funny. Plus its not like anything happened by this anyways.

I didnt know there were many types of hatred...

Let me guess, you want to turn the tables and acuse me of being racist?
No.... I dont...

Well of course, because if we take him off the streets, he can't vote for Obama next year.

Exactly!!!
Don't you realize this story is important to some people? Did you notice the words in bold in the OP story?

Humorous? Really?
mostly, yeah... stupid is funny, sometimes. not in ALL cases, of course. often is is sad. this is not much different from the stupid spy tricks the CIA used against the Red menace... and about as fruitful.

you love calling people "racist". . . except those whose racism actually matters.

it is wrong, it is ignorant, it fosters ignorance and it works against doing what is really needed in ignoring the greater problem and focusing on trite nonsense.

you turn a blind eye to the racism that actually hurts people and accuse the victims.

congratulations.... your handlers must be very proud of you.
