Major League Baseball 2019

I always use to think that in cold, bad weather April the pitchers were a head of the hitters. This year seems just the opposite. There's been lots of bad weather here in the Northeast and Midwest.. The games I've seen the pitchers just can't seem to get in a rhythm.. They go 3-2 on every hitter. 105 pitches by the 5th inning.. Over and over.

Idk.. Maybe it's the weather.. Maybe it's something else.

Pitchers may be catching up with the elevated launch angles. Lots of foul balls for lots of pitchers with more and more batters going deep into counts that go with the upper cut launch. More K’s and BB’s also; occasional HBP’s.

Today, the pitch data on mlb.com had Hendrix slow and slower. Mixed it well, with sinkers early and then a slow 4-seamer, working in the 69.8 mph changeup later and some curves. Only one two-seamer I counted, Molina.

Linc is right.

Max Scherzer has been overused, and guess who his manager was for two seasons? Dusty Baker a manager that a history of ruining pitchers.

When you add all that wear and tear you have a pitcher that most likely is a ticking time bomb away from a major injury.

Thank you for saying this Bucky, I really mean it. But at best this early, it’s a hypothesis, known as more than just a wild guess. Next comes the theory, which cannot be true for every pitcher, imho, otherwise it would be a Law.

Charting these guys online while listening to radio is good. Having all 3 with the TV is as good as it gets. The Nats had a really good streak last year when their rotation was 1-3-4-2-5. They should do it again now. You’re guaranteed Max or Strasburg in every series. They should have the best starters in baseball.

Try the rotation thing with your Yankees. You have to say which pitchers are actually 1-5 and then check where you are now and what set it up back to 03.28.19. I’m on break from this wheel of physics equations I’m on about. I might check NYY now.

Mad Max's throwing motion is extremely violent. I predict a shoulder injury very soon.

What a disastrous trade it was for the Pirates to trade for Chris Archer.

Tyler Glasnow looks like an all-star and Austin Meadows looks like a legit power left-handed bat.

Two cost-effective players for an injury-prone overpaid starter that was never that great.

What a waste of time for the Cubs:

Chicago Cubs Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney said in a statement released early this morning that the club is investigating a fan using what appeared to be a hand gesture associated with the white power movement while NBC Sports Chicago reporter Doug Glanville did a TV segment in front of him.

The statement:

We are currently investigating an incident that occurred during the Cubs’ May 7 broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago while reporter Doug Glanville was on the air. An individual seated behind Mr. Glanville used what appears to be an offensive hand gesture associated with racism.

Where do people come up with this stuff?

Oakland radio had a good take on the new and more slick and tightly wound baseball with not as much seam to work with. Managers aren’t challenging other pitchers using pine tar because they’re all doing it.

Also heard of a backup baseball that may come in later in the season. That should be interesting. It’s the new launch angles that are causing so many foul balls, plus the stands being so close in newer ballparks and those being refurbished.

I prefer ‘inside the lines’ discussion. I like German for you. With Severino and Paxton out, your #1 and #3, you go German, Sabathia, and Tanaka against the Rays this weekend — 5 - 6 - 2. Your rotation is currently 2-7-4-5-6. German is a great #5.

The Yankees will be lucky to win 1 game against the Rays this weekend. They are still missing 4 starters on offense, 2 starters, and their best relief pitcher.

It’s all about matchups. As a 5-inning bettor, with Monopoly money right now, I’d take German at +150. The over/under is 3.5 in 5. I need 4 to go under.

You’re going right, left, right with 3 totally different starters. 2 of 3 is very doable.

Germa[SUP]’[/SUP]n is on so far after 3. Lots of curveballs. Changeup is rather fast for his two fastballs. From computer, he looks to be hitting his spots.

So much for your bullpen problems.

Amazing that Tanaka is outpitching Snell in Tampa.

Yankees could start dominating when Hicks, Paxton, Judge, Stanton, Didi, and the rest return.

All teams have injuries, all the time. White Sox just lost #1 starter Carlos Rodon to TJ, out until 2020 with an 18-month recovery. Injuries have a silver lining, with replacements getting valuable experience. Only the 2nd rotation of the year did the Yankees skip the #5 starter. Many teams did this so they wouldn’t pitch against the same team in the 1st and 3rd series.

Otherwise, NYY have been dedicated to a 5-man rotation, not a 5-day. Loaisiga was your piggyback, especially on to CC. He’s serviceable as a starter. Btw, Happ is from my county here in IL. He’s in your #3 slot.

Rays’ Glasnow to miss 4-6 weeks. Yanks’ Severino on the 60-day IL, out until at least the All-Star break. And so it goes. Next man up. Rays could go back to 3 openers.

power outage at Tropicana Field.

The next time I get the feel for NYY, I’ll let you know. All 3 games had the NYY averaging about a +150 dog. You would have cleared 2 units total betting one unit on each game.

Public bettors like me just can’t do it every day. We start pressing, and I don’t know all 30 starting staffs, let alone their relievers. That’s why I’m playing with Monopoly right now.

TB is all over the map with their starters. Their use of Stanek starting two games in 3 days, twice already this season, plus ineffectively relieving like today, ___.

Talk about the most dysfunctional team in MLB:

SS Addison Russell remains on the team, despite being a wife beater.

Ben Zobrist is on an indefinite leave of absence because of a divorce. I mean what???

Yu Darvish has been a trainwreck signing.

Carl Edwards Jr., Ian Happ, struggling.

And they banned a fan for flashing an upside-down okay symbol...

And they are absolutely dominating other teams in the last month or so.

They’re on a pace to win 104 games- better than 2016. Their team ERA since mid April is about 2.10, and they are 23-7 since 4/8.

Kyle Hendricks looks like Greg Maddux with hitting ability, KB is obviously back healthy, Baez is hitting like a champ, J-Hey has finally figured out how to hit again, and Jon Lester has been stellar.

I think that is actually a ‘highly functional’ ball club.

Their fans seem to travel well, tonight in DC. Now there’s a dysfunctional team, the Nats.
