MAGA's elected Trump to lower the COL but elected him to raise the COL via tariffs. How does that work?

Trump has always talked a game (not even a good one) but stuff that he puts out like this BEFORE he has any power to do so is done for two reasons:

1. To flesh out the idea, perhaps even get feedback and
2. To make the screaming heads explode.

I never understand these kinds of defense. IE the he didn't mean it defense.

The lumber tariff goes up and down each year according to a review and presumably a formula. Has nothing to do with Biden and it's used to level the playing field. Homebuilders would love access to cheap lumber, but putting American companies out of business isn't the answer. Protective tariffs have their uses. Blanket tariffs are senseless.

Well it’s actually very easy to understand. Trump says Mexico, Canada, and China will pay the Tariffs. Experts and Business leaders explain that those costs are passed on to consumers. The Fanboys ignore everything that the experts and leaders say. Unless Trump tells them in several Tweets, they won’t believe it.

Now before you think that is bad. Just imagine the sticker shock in the Fanboys when the prices do rise. Those up north for example who get a majority of their gas and oil from Canadian Tar Sands will see a big price spike at the Pump.

Those looking for a truck to drive with an engine big enough to move a good sized yacht will be furious as they see the prices.

People complaining they can’t afford Groceries thanks to Biden will see prices rise again.

Instead of trying to figure out what is wrong with them, the question I can’t answer is how will they blame this on Democrats.

I suspect Republicans themselves in congress will mitigate many of his worst policy proposals- just like they are mitigating some of his crazy cabinet picks now. It's like sitting next to a 15 year old driving the car. You just try to do your best to make sure they don't crash the car and hope for the best. Maybe we will be lucky and the worst he will do is cut taxes to his buddy Elon Musk a little more. That's just a best case scenario.

And what do you mean what they say has nothing to do with their actions once in office??? Of course they matter, that's what the people are electing them TO DO.
