Looks Like It's Gonna Be Trump Versus Hillary For POTUS

Ohio and Florida goes to Hillary. Bernie was always a long shot, no matter how enthusiastic his supporters here are. And now it looks like he's finished.

On the GOP side, Trump reigns supreme.

So who will you vote for as POTUS between the two?

Trump.

Still hoping for a Trump/Cruz combo but, if it's Trump/? not a difficult choice.

"Other"... I am fairly confident I'll end up 3rd party. Just unsure who as of yet.

I'm either voting for Gary Johnson if he's on the ballot, or writing in either Huntsman, Rubio or myself.

I started voting for President in 1972 and only once did not vote for the Democratic candidate. I expect that this time will be no different. While I have not been a fan of Clinton and would expect her administration to be a rerun of her husbands policies, Trump simply is extremely unacceptable as our president and I could never vote for him.

You're not considering a third party protest vote?

I guess I have to commit now. In a race between Hillary and Trump, I can't let my vote go to waste for an Independent as usual. I'll vote Trump.

I'll vote for him for several reasons.

1. I've already promised to commit to the candidate who will support Second Amendment rights. That appears to be Trump.

2. I consider Hillary a party hack of the worst sort. Her promises are as empty as every other recent Democratic (and let's face it GOP hack) candidate. Neither party will really allow for actual change absent a grass roots driven rebellion. At least in the GOP Trump represents that.

3. I don't consider Trump as "evil" as the left-wing media has been trying to make him. As I've stated in other threads, as a New Yorker I recognize the opportunistic bombast of a fellow New Yorker. Trump didn't expect to be this successful but his current campaign is driven by maintaining that momentum. I am fairly certain that his actual campaign as a Presidential candidate against Hillary will reflect some major policy changes to make him more appealing to the general public. It's what a salesman does.

4. I don't consider Trump a threat as a seated President. Like any other President (see Obama) he needs Congress to get anything done outside of his duties as Chief Executive. Congress is still firmly in the pockets of existing special interests who wily not let any President upset the apple cart.

5. I am annoyed by all of those who rail against the alleged intolerance of the Trump campaign by demonstrating actual intolerance through actions geared to create self-fulfilling prophecies. This exemplified by situations like the Chicago "protest," and all the other attempts to create scenes at his rallies. When you intentionally poke a hornets nest and get stung, why blame the hornets?

So all things equal, I'd rather see a short-term blowhard like Trump in office, then a business as usual political hack like Hillary in there. At least it would be four years less hackery even if nothing else.

In a straight up Trump- Hillery, I will hold my nose, and vote for Trump.

I'm a staunch Bernie supporter, but you're right, it's really not looking good. If he doesn't get the nomination my order of preference is:

1) Jill Stein of the Greens
2) Gary Johnson of the Libertarians
3) Sit at home and watch the world burn

Neither Hillary nor Trump even factor into the equation. I don't play "who's worse, I'll vote for person B just to stop person A" games. I have to think past this election about all of the future elections and both mainstream candidates are completely and unequivocably incompatible with my core beliefs. Clearly Clinton would be a preferable POTUS to Trump, but I simply can not bring myself to do it.

Hillary Clinton without question is the most logical candidate between these two individuals. If you wanted to compare the two individuals on just about any factor, then she wins in a landslide. Her temperament, her experience, her connections in the political realm, her ability to act like a President, her intelligence, and yes even her trustworthiness are all superior to Donald Trump.

The last two factors are my opinion, but I have legitimate reasons for backing them up nearly every element that I have identified.

Hillary Clinton wins this election by an electoral and popular vote landslide.

Hillery represents the arrogant condescension of the modern Liberal,
That says you poor stupid conservative,
You do not know what is best for yourself.
We the enlightened, will tell you how you must live!
While Trump is somewhat unknown, he likely would exercise some fiscal responsibility.
At the same time he would be limited by our constitution, if he were to attempt any of his
crazy statements.
(I think he is a bit smarter then he lets on, he has had too many things fall his his way,
for it to be just good luck.)
On the other side of the coin, what have we come to, when the casino operator is the lesser evil?

I voted other. While I wouldn't be voting for Trump, I'd mot certainly be voting against Hillary.
(And doing so while holding my nose - I'd much rather have Kasich there - moderate that I am).

If she sells her self as a continuation of her husband's policies then she certainly would have my vote. Its demographically impossible for Trump to win. A Republican has to win 40% of the Hispanic vote in order to win and he doesn't stand a chance in hell of it. Other than the handful of non-Cuban Hispanics in the Republican Party, the majority of Hispanics see him as New York version of George Wallace.

It always seems counter intuitive, but history has show lowering taxes, increases federal revenue.
Clearly this works only within a finite range, but it does work.

Every media outlet is throwing Bernie out the window without admitting that last night was the last time Clinton would maintain a strong advantage. Every race after will be Bernie's strength.

I'm not in the game to persuade anyone, I just have to laugh at the irony of so many people feeling the winds of inevitability without smelling how tepid they are.

My number #1 litmus test for President is to think of Oct 1961...and figure out which candidate would have the temperment to work though a Cuban Missile crisis situation most effectively (without pushing the proverbial button)....

Sorry, but a guy who consults only himself on serious matters, for which he lacks the experience and expertise, I don't see passing that test...

Bernie’s Comeback Calendar

I checked for Hillary, but after doing so I immediately regretted it. I do not want to vote for any of the candidates. However, I feel a responsibility to vote. Bernie is out the window due to his tax plan. Trump hasn't explained how he plans to go about doing anything. Hillary is pro gun control. It's a lose lose for me.

If taxes are so prohibitively high as to discourage economic growth, then lowering them will increase revenue due to much higher economic growth than what would have otherwise existed.

However, there is no reason at all to suggest that is the case today when effective federal tax rates (what people actually pay) are quite low compared to most of the post war era. In fact, even when taxes were a little higher back in the 90s we actually saw much stronger over all economic growth. That is not to suggest that higher taxes then resulted in more economic growth, but rather that higher rates then did not impede economic growth thus there is no reason to believe that current levels of effective taxation is impeding growth at all (we may not have our strongest economy ever but we do have the strongest economy of any of our peers in the developed world).

That is not to say we should not reform corporate taxes because we should. They currently are overly complex and encourage all sorts of economically inefficient activity. However, big tax cuts today would be as fiscally irresponsible as the big programs Bernie proposes. What we should be doing is exactly what we did in the later half of the 90s, maintain current revenues and curb growth in spending so that we move closer to balanced budgets in order to be ready for the fiscal challenges of all the baby boomers retiring.

The only 2 candidates that seem to be remotely fiscally responsible in their proposals are Kasich and Clinton.
