Loan Forgiveness

It's private money from a non-profit.

They can give it to anyone they want.
Government is not allowed to discriminate just because someone gave it money to do so.

Nevertheless, it's still racist. Imagine the quantity of pearls clutched by the left if the loans only went to white teachers, instead of "educators of color".

Meh.

My mom is about the whitest lady you ever saw, and she benefitted from a program just like that back in the day, and spent a fruitful career teaching public school in what is now the heart of MAGA country.

Couldn't a white person just identify as "multi-racial" if they wanted to take money that was intended to increase the number of educators of color? Are they going to do DNA testing or something?

How do you DNA test a social construct?

The Providence Rhode Island School Board set up a system that would allow teachers, after 3 years of service, to qualify for $25,000 loan forgiveness programs. IOWs, they would pay that amount to teachers who had student debt. There was one caveat. You can not be White in order to receive this money. What say you?

Sounds great - our society offers zero incentive to become a teacher so every little bit helps.

The government takes the money, the government disburses the money. It is a government act.
The government isn't taking the money. It's being distributed directly into teacher's accounts. It's a grant from a private charity. It's not taxpayer money. Perfectly legal.

... of course, that is not the point. Are you suggesting that $25,000 matters more for paying off student loans to other races than it does to whites?
statistically blacks need it more, and the damage done through history has been greater toward blacks....................but, yes, I know white men who need help as well

NO PERSON in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or nationals origin, be excluded from participating in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
This is Title VI

So if the money is being distributed by the school, which receives federal funding, i see a major issue

Wouldn't it depend on where the money comes from?
No, it doesn't matter. The school board took control of the money. The district decided who received the money. The school website is being used to promote the loan forgiveness. Where the money comes from doesn't matter at all.

What would be the response if a white supremacist group gave money raised from charity to the school to be given only to white teachers? Everyone here knows the response from this site would be 180 degrees opposite of several responses here and contain rants about racism.

Government isn't discriminating. A private charity is offering to pay minority teachers who satisfy the requirements. It's perfectly legal.
Damn, who is determining who gets the money? How are they determining that? Who is giving out the money? It is the school board. The school board in the government. This is discrimination.

I am an ex expert so, there is that. I've found that those who claim to be experts don't know the a...h.... from a hole in the ground.
An expert in WHAT? :ROFLMAO:

The government isn't taking the money.
Yes, it is:

It is the school district itself that is administering the program. THe funds are the result of a grant from a private organization, but they are giving the money to the district.

It's being distributed directly into teacher's accounts.
Yes, from a government-created organization:

Government doesn't get to discriminate just because a private group is paying them to.

I see no reason to think a ruling that a race-based government benefits program is unconstitutional is suspect.
The party of very fine people on both sides wouldn't.
