Sisi has had enough. It is being reported that SiSi has told BO that he wants to see a US Led Coalition focusing on ISIS in Libya. What say ye?

Egypt is now openly bombing ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) targets in Libya, in reaction to the ISIL mass murder of 21 Egyptian Christians. Earlier today the Egyptian Air Force announced that it had hit ISIL targets in the city of Darna, which has been controlled by Islamic terrorists since 2014 and that those groups have recently declared allegiance to ISIL.

Egypt recently pointed out that it is still working with its Arab and Western allies in the anti-ISIL coalition to determine longer-term Egyptian military operations against ISIL. This might include other members of the coalition sending warplanes or special operations troops to operate against ISIL in Libya. Egypt has long declared that outside force would eventually be needed and saw Libyan peace talks as futile and counterproductive because the Islamic terrorist factions really have no interest in compromising.

February 12, 2015: In the west (Sirte, 500 kilometers east of Tripoli) ISIL gunmen seized a radio station because it was broadcasting music, which is considered un-Islamic by most Islamic terror groups. February 11, 2015: With the appearance of ISIL in Libya and growing violence against Egyptians in Libya, Egypt has agreed to join the coalition fighting ISIL......snip~

Libya: Egypt Declares War

About time.

Not everyday that Egypt jumps up and declares War huh AG. :2wave: Egypt has been telling team BO since Sept of last year.....they would have joined back then if they got some assistance. As you can see they got their own and went and took care of business with the UAE inside Libya.

It appears Sisi like Jordan isn't trembling to step up to the plate. Do you think the Saud will notice how Real Warriors act?

No, I do not.

Good news.

Who is in the coalition?
AFAICT... The US, Britain, Australia, Canada, France, Iraq, Jordan, UAE, the Kurds, and perhaps now... Egypt.

Darn! Where the heck is Albania?!

They are a NATO member and are not using the opportunity!

Well, I don't think the Egyptian President will wait around to see whats going to happen. Instead he is being proactive and has gone after the ISIS training camps in Libya.

D[sup]3[/sup]... Albania doesn't have any combat aircraft in service. Just sayin' ;)

Albania's air force consists of ~18 choppers, and none are combat equipped.

That is alright,

This is allied work. You could carry Albanian soldiers over there. Under which allied camp would we best work for starters do you think?

Look at it from another perspective: There is more room for improvement. ;)

Going back to Sept of Last year Sisi told Kerry and BO that the War on the Islamic State had to be widened. Had to take both Africa and the ME on. Couldn't just be directed at one Organization either. Had to be able to go where what he termed the Hotbed.....was!

Even back then Kerry assured him that we would attacked ISIS wherever they exist.

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has told the US that its coalition to defeat the Islamic State group should be expanded to counter "terrorist hotbeds" across the Middle East and Africa.

The office of the Egyptian president late on Saturday stated that he had told US Secretary of State John Kerry that any coalition must be able to tackle all threats in the two regions."He stressed that any international coalition against terrorism must be a comprehensive alliance that is not limited to confront a certain organisation or to curb a single terrorist hotbed but must expand to include all the terrorist hotbeds across the Middle East and Africa,'' the office said in a statement.....snip~

The fact the jihadists have managed to get into Kirkuk and capture at least twenty Kurdish soldiers in the area is just one more indictment of Barack Obama. The Kurds have been pleading for more American weapons, and whatever Mr. Obama has done in response obviously hasn't been enough. The jihadists have been threatening the western outskirts of Kirkuk for months now, and yet when this latest assault came, there was no U.S. help on hand. Without spotters to locate small, moving forces for them to target, carrier jets probably were not very useful.

I see the 3d Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, about 3,800 strong, has been ordered to Kuwait. Where they will be sent from there is anyone's guess, but I hope one of their heavily armed units will end up supporting the Kurds. There is very little cover in country like that for an attacking force to hide in, and the U.S. certainly has the means to spot threats from the air. If even a few U.S. armored vehicles, armed helicopters, or artillery pieces in skilled hands had been available near Kirkuk, it's hard to see how a bunch of jihadists in pickup trucks ever could have gotten close to the city, let alone entered it.

Libya: Egypt Declares War

Doing what's right or engaging in internecine conflict??? IOW, is Egypt doing this because they see ISIL as a threat to peace or as a threat to their power?? I'm not landing on either one, but it's a question that needs answering....

Personally, I like that as many ME countries as possible get involved. I feel, to some extent this is more critical than Western states. Of course, the ultimate would be a 'coalition' so vast and so superior that they wipe these barbaric, animals off the planet. But looking long term, and at the wider picture this may be the start of a 'muscular' response to the problems that the ME has most answers. At the end of the day, I think we can both agree there is a 'fight' within Islam that has been brewing for many years.

Unfortunately I don't believe the response by Jordan, Egypt and the UAE will solve the building problem we will have here with islamic terrorists coming to or already in Europe (whether by boat across the Med, plane through Turkey or from radicalised muslims in our prisons).

What I don't want is a muscular ME response allowing our politicians off the hook with regard to security policy here.

Heya AT. :2wave: Well at least we know the UAE is in with backing Egypt too.

Heya FS. :2wave: Sisi gave the speech and here he even says wherever the Hot bed is. So he isn't talking just about Egypt.

But he does have his hands full with Hamas and ISIS , plus the MB.

Fair point. I was implying a 'Muscular' ME in the sense of doing a portion of the dirty work that's undoubtedly needed.

Heya Gunner. :2wave: I agree.....but then its how close it will lead to civil war with the Shia and Sunni. If the Clerics from both sides can step and keep the fous on the heretics. Then it will be possible to break any of them. ISIS, AQ, or Ansar Al Sharia.
