If you can believe this study:

"In a new study published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, researchers state that liberals live longer than conservatives, basing their results on individual death records, which is a “more valid measure” than self-reporting on health and community death rates."

Political Satirist Daniel Kurtzman, however, believes the study is true. “Did they really need a study?” he told USA Today. “Conservatives like guns, tobacco, fossil fuels, deep-friend endangered caribou,” while liberals “like yoga, weed, clean air, free-range kale… and giving everyone free health care.”

Makes sense to me.

btw, If you'll note - the study is no longer "new." It's now ten years old.

It is a contract to read both the 1956 Platform on the Republican and consider The Preamble to our Constitution, especially the members of the House of Represent, the Senate and the members of the Supreme Court and voters of America:

At this time, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the six other justices, McConnell in the Senate and the Republican Speaker of The House ignore The Preamble.

LOL, THAT line alone is gonna p'ss off a lot of Righties.
Of course it is largely a characterization, but there is also some truth to it.
Examples in my personal life:
My niece, VERY liberal, is a vegetarian, doesn't drink nor smoke (nor smokes pot) and lives a healthy life style. The ONLY people (and this part is a truth whether it ruffles feathers or not) are the few people we know who are more conservative who believe she should "get over herself" and that she can't possibly be happy not eating meat or enjoying a drink or two. In other words, being judgemental of her lifestyle.

I AM NOT SAYING it is like that everywhere in every instance, but even on forums like this one I have read comments from conservative types mocking those who are vegetarian or live a certain lifestyle. If mocking is YOUR answer to their lifestyle you will be royally ticked at studies like the above one that says you are less likely to live a longer life than those hippy dippy types.

I maybe wrong but I recall reading that because of Canada Medicare Canadians live 6 years + longer than our American counterparts.

I suspect that may have something to do with universal medicare. When we get sick or injured we go to the dock, Americans have to weigh whether its affordable.

True, but I'm trying to figure out what that has to do with this thread.

Yes, America has a stupid system. The scientists and researches that make invent this stuff at Universities would still invent this stuff even if Pharma or Medical companies didn't make 100's of billions of dollars off their work.

It happens to be true, but Righties don't want to here it, for them it's all about............................ whatabout them waiting lists? Odd, my waiting list has always been short and ANY medical treatment I have needed has been timely without paying thru the nose.

I'm closing in on 80 years.

About two weeks ago on a Friday I began having chest pains, which I thought were muscular, but decided to call my GP anyway. When he called back he told me to go to emerge, even though I have NO history of heart disease. I was changing my shoes when the ambulance arrived and was getting every test known to science in under 45 minutes.

So I say "what shortage of care?"

Oh, I'm to get a full stress test in about a week.

During Covid, "conservative" Trump voters died at 3 times the rate of everyone else. You think that's wise?


So they looked into the reasons why. Initially, the hypothesis was that they died more because they tend to be older. But that didn't turn out to be the case. It was because they were apparently more "wise" to believe deadly toxic bull$hit:

We conclude the chapter with lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic and future research directions on the pandemics' politicization."
