For the second year in a row, Ron Paul has won the CPAC straw poll. . .

Ron Paul Wins US Conservative Poll, Romney Finishes 2nd | USA | English

The victory is ironic considering Paul touts the idea of limited government, free markets, individual freedom, and fiscal restraint, all of which are hallmarks of liberalism, totally inconsistent with the 4 core objectives of the GOP. . .
  1. To run up the US debt by starting useless wars and subsidizing the oil, offense, and other industries while simultaneously cutting revenue by lowering taxes only for the very rich
  2. To shield corporations from liability for their reckless behavior by forcing taxpayers to pay for it instead
  3. To curtail freedom and police the bedroom by increasing the size and reach of government
  4. To doll out billions in aid to foreign regimes and dictators that are friendly to US corporate and pro-Israeli interests, even at the expense of democracy
Can it be that conservatives are finally seeing the light, or that CPAC members just happened to be more educated than the majority of their voting brethren?

I honestly thought this was another neocon bashing Paul thread, nice surprise for a change.

Love how saying "Paul's got some good ideas and I like them but he's just a bit to nutters for my taste" is bashing.

We can only hope that this result will encourage Ron Paul to run a full fledged campaign for the GOP presidential nomination next year. I wish him all the luck possible in getting that nomination.
