That's a dumb attempt at sarcasm. The oil industry like all other industries are to a point regulated. Having their backs simply means not fighting against them. Not sure how you are equating drilling leases on federal lands as socialism. The leases are not free. The oil companies pay for them just as they do on privately owned lands, And many of the best drilling sites are on federal lands, however it is still a gamble. When Joe Biden of cognitive decline came into office and immediately stopped drilling leases and permits on federal lands, it does not give the oil companies confidence that the government supports them in producing enough oil to regain energy independence.
