Drill baby drill would be a good start. Energy independence is vital to national security. Even Europe is suddenly waking up to that lesson.

Jump in a lake and die. How'd I do?

Dream away. D's may actually pick up a seat or three in the Senate. The House is definitely going to the dark side though.

If the GOP wins the House the 1/6 committee comes to a dead stop. Trump and his cohorts get away with inciting an insurrection. The GOP will not bring any judges they consider liberal up for a vote. All covid restrictions cease. The ACA comes under attack. The infrastructure bill gets gutted. An increase in military spending. Probably more tax cuts for the rich and corporate welfare.

Good bye environment. National Parks and all fragile habitats will be attacked in the interest of corporate profits.

Trump will take credit.

Our democracy may not survive.

Are you suggesting the federal government seize the American oil industry?

Pave the way for Trump's Presidency.

What does that mean? Well, for starters, they can pass a bill requiring Biden to resume building the border wall. Of course, Biden won't sign the bill but maybe the GOP will have enough of a majority to override. If not, then every voter will know what'll happen when Trump is President again.

There are a slew of things a GOP Congress can do the get ready for Trump.

Regardless of which party an elected candidate is from, I'd be happy if they would just represent their constituents on issues instead of their party.

1-6 committee is dissolved. A new investigation is begun into Hunter Biden's laptop. Biden goes on trying to be bipartisan for a while but eventually gives it up and begins EOs as his only recourse. McCarthy begins an investigation into Biden's actions in Ukraine as VP for Obama. Meanwhile, we have another more serious government shut-down.

The good news is that calls for Trump to be investigated ramp up. Merrick Garland surprises everyone by revealing the existence of an investigation into Trump's involvement with 1-6. Other investigations churn towards indicting Trump. Right in the middle of Trump's 24 campaign, he is wrangling with serious legal issues. His supporters don't care. They all start chanting witch hunt as fast as Trump sounds the dog whistle. Tucker Carlson breaks a hundred million net worth.

Hopefully, they will pay for caregivers who look after the elderly at home or at various facilities.

Currently, Medicare pays only for the first three months at a facility after leaving the hospital.

And it pays nothing to help families who hire caregivers for home care (unless, I understand, one is under the poverty level).

Some families have to use up their savings or take out a reverse mortgage.

*****

1. If you are relatively young, I hope that you will seriously consider getting some long-term care insurance for yourself or a loved one.

2. I have heard that some people resort to paying cash to someone to take care of a loved one in order to avoid the high cost of going through an agency. But hear tell that is dicey. E.g., you might be considered an employer. Tax problems, etc.

3. I think that some Europeans in "socialized" countries shake their heads in amazement at how the elderly are left financially hanging in the wealthiest nation ever on earth.

Oil is a major polluter and not forever ......... how stupid can we get about this......

Let me try: I would expect every ALEC GOP wing nut to step up and resign thus doing their part to drain the swamp. In the best interest of America.

The GOP will not pay for caregivers for home care. After all, this is an affront to all core conservative values:
- pay your own way
- personal responsibility and accountability
- small government

After all, why are your caregiving needs my problem that needs to be funded by my taxes? That sounds downright... liberal.

The oil companies could do that right now if they so choose......but that is not in their business plan.

Say goodbye to your health care.
Not unless the Dems lose the WH.......Biden would veto any of that.

Impeach the greatest President post WW2 our country has had, Biden.

it's not quite that easy. You clearly do not understand the oil business and how it's influenced by government.

So you want the Govt. to takeover the oil companies? How about a ban on oil exports?

You mean by paying them to produce oil? Should we increase their subsidies? How would that bring down the world price of oil?

No, you clearly have not being paying attention to what oil sector executives are saying. They have no plans to return to precovid production levels in 2022. They are instead listening to their shareholders who want to recoup the money they lost. Shareholder ROI is their current focus not investing in production.

"Fifty-nine percent of oil executives said investor pressure to maintain capital discipline is the primary reason publicly traded oil producers are restraining growth, according to a Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas survey released Wednesday."

"Just 6% of executives polled by the Dallas Fed pointed to government regulations as the primary reason publicly-traded oil companies are restraining production growth."

That's why you are so ignorant on the issue. It's all about partisan politics to you. First between known oil reserves and coal shale, we have enough oil to last the next five centuries It's not going to run out. Most of us, myself included would love to see the oil pig disappear, for the sake of ending the free world's dependence on brutal dictatorships like Russia and Iran. However it's not going to happen until a viable alternative with an existing infrastructure is in place. In the meantime, the free world is importing oil and gas from places that do not drill or refine cleanly like we do in the US. And Putin is pretty much financing his war on Ukraine with oil he exports to the free world.

Capitalism at its best, otherwise known as survival of the fittest, not the companies, we the people. There are many things that could be done for we the people sadly one party seems dead set against them claiming socialism. I guess they would rather see our tax dollars go to the military industrial complex.
