(Yeah, I know that Mexico doesn't have a much more powerful military than the US and can't do much to us, but just humor me.)

Let's suppose a bunch of neo-nazis don't like Mexicans crossing the border so a bunch of them paraglide into a music festival and kidnap and kill a bunch of civilians. How would you like it if the Mexican government said "this is American's fault for allowing extremism like that to propagate" and starting bombing homes and schools and hospitals and killing civilians in the US?

How would that make you feel? And don't pretend like that would just make everyone want to keep voting MAGA more. Not sure if any racists will bother to use a single milliwatt of brain power on this but maybe some fauxgressives that say they support Israel might.

Your example doesn't work. The Mexican military sold all their weapons and ammunition to the cartels already. The ones that still have them are actively working for said cartels.

Suppose a bunch of terrorists decided to lob a few missiles into say, San Diego from Mexico? Do you think for a moment that we would stand for that? We'd have the 82nd and 101st dropping into Tiajuana like rain. Do you think we would be asking Mexico's permission? We drop bombs from drones for a hell of a lot less. All. Over. The. World. And we never ask permission. Neither should Israel.
