Lets discuss Obama's cabinet choices

Interesting, I didn't realize that the Employee Free Choice Act had anything to do with strengthening the FLSA...

Up the minimum wage? How many people do we need to see out of work or not being hired before we realize that having the government tell employers how much to pay their employees doesn't result in higher wages for everyone else?

And I love the title of this legislation...you mean having to announce publicly whether you intend to support union organizing is a free choice? LOL!!!

Mr. Orwell, please pick up the white courtesy phone...Mr. Orwell...

I complained that there were no Southern blacks on the cabinet.

Obama has picked a Creole New Orleans woman, Lisa Jackson, to head the EPA. I know they were pushing to make that a cabinet post earlier in the year. It's at least sort of a cabinet position.

I love the idiots complaining that Obama hasn't changed anything yet. Hey, get a clue, he's not even in office yet, jesus what partisan assholles.

Never apply to become a tactician of any sorts please. Hopefully this one doesnt take 8 years to figure out.

That's brilliant. Thanks for the insults, but if you would open your fucking eyes for a minute, you can see there will be no change on amnesty, one world government, NAFTA, and all the other bull**** that no one but a Demwit would want, just by looking at the choices he's making.

Yeah, let's talk about it.

I chose Obama over Hillary Clinton for one reason: Foreign Policy.

Now, come to learn that all those differences in that big debate, not to mention the entire length of the Primaries, was a load of crock since she'll be managing his foreign policy. Gee thanks I was worried Obama actually wanted to be a major change for a little while

Isn't that the one reason you voted for Obama, his foreign policy?

Yes, but what was the difference between Clinton and Obama when they had th big argument about meeting with foreign leaders if she's close enough to run his State Dept?

I was just saying that we ought to do away with the debates at the Primaries, or, better yet, just make it Mainstream v Dennis Kucinich. It's just a glorified popularity contest with no difference between 99% of the candidates' platforms.

Hey Joby, where ya been man. Didn't you run off and join the Navy? I see your not a fan of Wade Philips. Well neither am I, he is a weak coach. The longhorns got screwed by the BCS as well. Just not a good year for sports in texas.

Not yet, due to my specialty I have to wait a few more months before I get to go. I don't mind, gives me chance to get in shape. Not that I'm worried, after all it's the navy not the marines

As for Wade, well....You just can't give up back-to-back 77yd and 82yd TD runs at the end of one game, then lose 44-6 in a do-or-die situation. And that Eagles game, man during that monstrosity I honestly began pondering the need for some public executions...

He is weak, you're right. He needed to lay down the law numerous times during the season, but never reverted from his indifferent style. Honestly, I found all the pre-season super bowl talk a little disturbing, and was hoping that after the first or second loss to see some anger and passion which never came. Despite his pledge to employ a different philosophy next year, I cannot fathom why Jerry is keeping him. Between Phillips, Jones, and Garret, it seems like the biggest goal is to make sure all the players are happy and nobody gets offended. Needless to say, I'm quite jealous of Mike Singletary in San Fran. At least he's got balls and is willing to speak the truth.

Anyway, I'm not a UT fan but yeah they got screwed big time. But then again, so did Utah, who just whopped on 'Bama to go 13-0, and USC. I'm hoping for Florida to win a close game (I'm no Longhorn but I hate OU), and the AP poll to come out with a different 1,2, and 3 then the BCS. Just to highlight how unsatisfying the BCS is.

I'm also a Raider fan by birth and I don't even want to start that discussion...

I saw a familiar face standing behind Obama on the TV. It was former Marine Commadant, General Jones. I took a lookie to see why he was back there. Apparently he's been tapped to be Obama's National Security Advisor. Aside from him being a Marine, I have to applaud Obama on this selection. I remember being in Okinawa, flipping through channels and I saw all the top generals from each branch sitting before Congress, discussing troop levels and readiniess. This was all pre-911, mind you. The committee asked each general if they thought that the military could decisivley win two MTWs at the same time(Major Theaters of War). Each one kind of gave a PC answer saying they thought we could. When it was General Jones turn, he said no. He did not think that the American forces could win two MTWs decisively. I was impressed with his brutal honesty, in the face of those considered his superiors. He was also a great Commadant for the Marine Corps, instituting alot of changes to make the Marine Corps able to be even more flexible in its roles. As I said, a good pick by Obama.

Barack Obama’s cabinet choices are a big part of my cynicism about him. I had a glimmer of hope until these cabinet choices (of course his voting record also added to my cynicism). May be Barack Obama should have been clear about his change (installing Clinton-era type of presidency). Oh, a slight point, right? The major appointee is Rahm Emanuel (Oh, I loathe him). I mean, can you get more pro-war than Rahm or pro-military industrial complex? I’m sure forced citizen service is the change we all waiting for. I’m keeping this post simple.

How about the choice for Labor Secretary? Here's a good one.

The Stimulus: How to Create Jobs Without Them All Going to Skilled Professionals and White Male Construction Workers

It's a two-fer: lots of new jobs, and investments in the nation's future productivity.

But if there aren't enough skilled professionals to do the jobs involving new technologies, the stimulus will just increase the wages of the professionals who already have the right skills rather than generate many new jobs in these fields. And if construction jobs go mainly to white males who already dominate the construction trades, many people who need jobs the most -- women, minorities, and the poor and long-term unemployed -- will be shut out.
Robert Reich's Blog: The Stimulus: How to Create Jobs Without Them All Going to Skilled Professionals and White Male Construction Workers

Robert Reich is a ****ing genius. I mean, we don't really want experienced people building bridges, skyscrapers, or even houses. This is what is called "How I went from scrubbing toilets to building bridges during the Obama Administration." I feel sorry for you white male construction workers out there. First, the gubmint leaves the borders wide open so the illegals can waltz in and take your jobs, and now the gubmint don't want you to git yer hands on any of that there stimulus money. Lawdy...it's a black man's world now.

This one is old but for some reason I feel the need to share it with ya'll. I think it brings up good valid points I hadn't thought about thoroughly.

YouTube - Who is Rahm Emanuel?

Scary chit; but it begs the question, why do people ask these questions AFTER the election? Isn't it a little too late to care?

I think it's a delivery time factor. He is saying stuff people really need and would prolly want to hear. It's just they didn't even know he gave the warning. Not until it's too late. I just heard a news reporter talking to Rahm about his service in the ISI. I dont know why that scares me. Supposedly his father was a known Israeli terrorist bomber too. That's not good.

Here's my recommendation for press secretary....
