I think that legalizing drugs is the only option here. Criminalizing only introduces an underworld of crime and violence. Legalize it and watch the economy grow with a decrease in detention and correctional costs. We have to have faith that the individual will make the right choices, moderation.

Why do you think they were made illegal in the first place?

all right ... I have seen severe heroin addicts and in cases of that extreme, intervention and moderate with healthy doses .. . like methadone at the pharmacy!

Happy? You think the addicts are?

the legalization of harmful things mostly makes it easy to get used and addicted to those harmful things

what else is the solution? An addict is suffering from a serious mental illness. There is no easy solution. The problem and the solution lay partly in altering the economic system, but that is not easy either. You can't just ban the drugs... there are backyard labs producing unsafe drugs ... then the problem gets into cartels and so on ....

lets look at the netherlands ... haven't they legalized dope? .... isn't that going well? they haven't degenerated into a third world puffing pit?

So we can trust people with drugs that can induce all sort of behavior... but we shouldn't allow them to have guns which don't induce people in doing all sorts of behavior.

Your logic is that of a 11yrs old.

You can't ''moderate'' heroin..It is addictive..you are either a junkie or not...

The very rare individual can "chip" at it awhile or use occasionally (weekends). But eventually even at that level it takes more over time to keep achieving the same buzz, until one morning you wake up and you're rationalizing a little booster to start the days won't hurt. With that drug your body and mind starts to crave it long before you get seriously physically addicted.

I use to smoke only when I drank, then one morning at work with a hangover I figured a cig would help my sickies. From then on it was 2 packs a day for 20 years.

all right... heroin is really addictive and is a real problem .... however what is the solution?
there are women who are performing oral to sustain their habit!
there are men who are doing burglaries to support their habit!

what are we meant to do?

Well..you must be that ''very rare''individual then..

Heroin is powerful, dangerous, and very expensive. Addiction is almost immediate after injecting the drug. After awhile the high doesn't last long at all causing the heroin addict to take heroin several times a day just to obtain a high. The addiction is so strong that the addict becomes sick if unable to obtain heroin and starts experiencing withdrawal symptoms. At first, the addict obtains heroin because it produces an immediate, pleasant experience. Eventually, the high or the experience doesn't last long enough and the addict starts taking more to obtain the high and to prevent the withdrawals. Heroin addicts don't want to experience those symptoms so they get high again to keep from going through it.

You think making it more available and accepted will help?
People will be more addicted and broke committing more crimes to sustain their habits or being just bananas from doing too many drugs.

You can't eliminate all vice from society it has never worked and never can as long as there is free will and ignorance.
That's how people grow and learn by making mistakes and we unfortunately have to bear the brunt from some of their errors.
It's called "life ain't easy".

I didn't invent the occasional use of the drug it's a commonly known fact that some people start as casual users. Look up the term "chipper". In NYC late night partiers were famous for holding down responsible daytime positions and Night Clubing under the high on weekends.

Heroin may be powerful and dangerous but it is relatively cheap as low as $15 a bag, depending on your habit compared to oxy's or hydros. Which can run $10 - $25 a pill or more. Many heavy pill users switch to "H" because of the availability and cost.

As far as injection that's only one method of induction some people smoke or actually snort it. With it being less potent in effect. I know enough about opiate addiction and not everyone becomes an instant heavy using, long term addict.

When did you first take it?

I am a psych patient and the only time I tasted heroin was in hospital
it put me to sleep straight away
after a few days on it, I suffered withdrawals when they stopped it
I guess I was just a research guinea pig

Good luck? What on earth are you talking about?

I neither imbibe nor promote the use of narcotics.
I think they're one of the worst things you can do.
I simply told the truth about the use of them.
