If the shoe fits ...Why is it that whenever someone talks against easy immigration or illegal aliens that someone is "xenophobic"?
Yes.Do you even know what xenophobia is?
That's not what I was objecting to. Read the ****ing thread before you spout off. Thanks. If someone is for legal immigration and also wants it to be controlled (weather tightly controlled or not) that is NOT xenophobia.
That argues for an overall quota, not a quota from specific countries.Besides what jamesrage said.....Because the US does not have unlimited resources.
If the shoe fits...
Yes.

Feel free to persist in your error. :shrug:The shoe doesn't fit when you're using the word incorrectly.
Apparently not since you are using the word incorrectly.
What am I objecting to?I read it. Have been since the begining of the thread. I know what your objecting to and what I said still stands.
As usual, the nativist xenophobia eventually breaks through the veil of specious arguments, leaving a path of hyperbole and ad hominem behind it. Happens every time.
Just be honest and say you want to keep all the chinks and greasers out. It would save us both a lot of time.

Feel free to give a valid reason for individual country quotas at your convenience. What do my comments have to do with xenophobia? Because I do not want to swing the doors on the border wide open I am somehow a xenophobe?
That argues for an overall quota, not a quota from specific countries.
Once again, read the ****ing thread.
Feel free to give a valid reason for individual country quotas at your convenience.
So what happens in the event that the best and brightest from outside of our borders happens to be concentrated in some contries more than others?Jeeze
Jamesrage suggested a quota from each country. I said because the US doesn't have unlimited resources when you asked "why?". Since we are a country that doesn't discriminate against people of other countries (legally speaking of course) then the logical thing to do is to put a quota of allowed immigrants from each country. That would allow people from all over the world to come to this country instead of everyone that comes here being from ONE country.
Feel free to give a valid reason for individual country quotas at your convenience.
I did not "holler" anything. I showed where those reasons were invalid. You've been given valid reasons. You then started hollering "xenophobia" and "ad hominem".
See my post 34.I already did in post #22 for why we do not swing the door wide open and let everyone in.
People that are immigrating here legally are no more a burden to the tax system than the average working American.Plus quotas ensure that citizens from all countries get an equal chance to come to America while at the same time the people from those countries are not burdening the tax paying population.
I never mentioned anything along those lines. The fact a particular country may borders ours does not entitle that country to have more of its citizens come here than any other country.
See my post 34.

So it's not about bringing in the best and brightest, it's about having enough white folks coming in to balance out all those brown and yellow folks. Oh, but that's not xenophobia! :roll:I do not care if some countries may have more educated people than others.
If they are here working and paying into the system, how is that burdensome? Its one thing when its the locals that are a burden and its a completely different thing when you import a burden.
I didn't mention adjacent countries.You mentioned quotas.
I did not "holler" anything. I showed where those reasons were invalid.
Had you read the thread before jumping in feet first you would have known this.
Jeeze

I'm not going to argue with you about what I wrote, as you seem to be unable or unwilling to do anything but read what you want to read and ignore the refutations I have made. If you have anything substantive to add to the debate, please feel free to do so at any time.Umm...yeah ya did.
Your whole post that I just quoted above is about nothing but your claim that people are being xenophobic and using hyperbole and ad hominems. No where in there did you show where any reasons given in this thread were invalid.
And instead of saying that I "just jumped into the thread" I'd suggest that you look back a few pages. I've been commenting in this thread from almost the begining [sic]. Perhaps you are the one that should actually read the thread.
So it's not about bringing in the best and brightest, it's about having enough white folks coming in to balance out all those brown and yellow folks. Oh, but that's not xenophobia!

*stratumI voted that we should increase both skilled and unskilled immigration. Skilled workers can only fill a certain strata of society, and frankly most people in my generation are very choosy about the kind of work they do. People are less and less inclined to get their hands dirty. Might as well give low level jobs to people who aren't afraid to do them.
Why don't you stop the rhetoric and start acting like an adult? And no it's not xenophobia. I gave you the defination [sic] of xenophobia. If what you said in your post were true and he just wanted enough white folks coming in to balance the other races then that would either be discrimination or racism not xenophobia. But since what you said is an outright lie then it is neither one of those either.
btw...thanks for proving that you have no idea what xenophobia really is.
Even those that work and pay into the system can still overburden the sytem. That includes everyone, not just immigrants. Or do you actually think that the only ones that are on welfare and get free lunches or gets the government to pay for medical expenses are just lazy bums that don't do crap for a living? At least with immigrants we can limit how much of a burden they may become, unlike natural born citizens.
So basically you are going to ride my jock about your misinterpretation of what I've said, or you're going to build idiotic strawmen. Gotcha. When you have something to say other than trying to put words into peoples mouths and hollering about xenophobia perhaps someone will have something more substantive to say.
Do the other 195 countries out there mostly have "white folks" in them? No? so your accusations are baseless and false. So it's not about bringing in the best and brightest, it's about having enough white folks coming in to balance out all those brown and yellow folks.

You have nothing relevant to add. Dismissed.
You still haven't explained why having too many educated people from one country is a bad thing.Do the other 195 countries out there mostly have "white folks" in them? No? so your accusations are baseless and false.
