This level of violence only became a problem when the NRA started going rabid with their push for "freedom" in the late 1970s. We got more guns, and more violence. It's a vicious cycle. So much for a gun culture making us safer.

If motor vehicle fatalities among motorists and pedestrians are much higher at a busy intersection with no traffic lights compared to those with them, it makes no sense to say that the rates of injuries from other causes at the intersection are the same. You fix the problem and put up a traffic light there.

That's highway regulations, which you sign onto when you seek permission to use those highways. Anyway, they are a convenience to drivers, not a hindrance.
