I suggest you do some reading up on buckshot from a 12 gauge versus a good defensive ammo like 64 grain TAP in .223/5.56. The AR will have much less penetration than the shotgun and is much easier to shoot with less recoil.

I don't use buckshot, and if I'm worried about recoil during a home invasion, I'm probably overthinking it.

Bullshit, the ATF doesn't have enough auditors to inspect anyone that often and is barred by Congress from expediting visits even if extensive violations are found. Our local firearm dealer got inspected after 12 years, hundreds of violations, lost paperwork, missing firearms and after a very long court battle, tiny fine, relative now 'runs' the store and the former owner still works there as the manager.

I went through a volunteer inspection after our burglary. Had just been inspected months earlier.

Missing firearms? Something as simple as a 4473 that didn’t get logged out of the A&D book or something as rotten as an employee stealing a gun. I have hundreds of guns. Some waiting to be picked up, some on layaway, some awaiting a police check to be sold, some new, some big, some very small. One going missing because an employee decided to be a thief is not easy to detect. And it has zero reflection on my ability to follow rules and regs.

It doesn’t mean that the FFL is selling guns out the back door as many of you leftists love to imply. And do you have an idea what constitutes a violation? Allowing a customer to miss one box is a violation. Not including a child safety pamphlet is a violation. Improperly fixing a form that’s missing information a violation. Not keeping no sale and non approved 4473’s in separate folders a violation. Basically if you fart the wrong way they violate you.

The ATF was responsible for many of those violations. It’s so difficult to remain perfect between 2 year inspections much less 12.
