Moments after White House Press Secretary Tony Snow's new personal battle against cancer became public yesterday, a vicious assault was launched at left-leaning websites, with some message posters hoping for a swift death for the presidential spokesman.

"Under the heading of 'What goes around comes around', the cancer in Tony Snow is removing the cancer of Tony Snow from the national scene," wrote TDoff on the D.C. gossip site Wonkette.com.

Omnilation wrote, "Dear Tony, I hate you. -God."

A contributor called homofascist stated, "It is a bitch that I wouldn't wish upon even a smarmy, evil f---face liar like Snow. Because really, isn't he OUR smarmy, evil f---face liar?"

I will be looking to see how many of you Liberals condemn this but I won't hold my breath........

This didn't take very long. I am not supporting what these people said and I find it despicable. However, neither side of the aisle has a monopoly on poor taste and vile rhetoric.

The Free Republic conservatives have a mudslinging contest with Edwards cancer announcement.

Oh.....and by the way.....I (a Liberal) condemn this in exactly the same way I condemn your partisan garbage.
 

I read a half dozen of those posts and its true they are not tasteful but I did not see any that wished Mrs Edwards to die......

I have said many times that I am sorry about what is happening with Mrs Edwards and I am praying for her but with my skepticism with ambulance chasers and trial lawyers the decision for Edwards to continue on has to be at least questioned....

I am no big Katie Couric fan but I have to give her credit for the hard questions she asked the Edwards on 60 minutes...........

I am sorry you feel that way in LA LA land in your rose colored glasses but the question begs to be asked..............I want to emphasize I am not blaming Mrs Edwards at all in theis scenario........

Words mixed with hypocrisy are empty of meaning. C'mon Navy......you ain't fooling anyone with your staged empathy towards the Edwards. You cowardly attempted to politicize her health situation for no reason other than to Bash her husband. It is as clear as the egg on your face.
If you were sincere in your concerns and empathy.....you wouldn't be such a partisan hack and so slimey in trying to capitalize on this for your political gain. Its bad taste....and reflects poorly on you.

And the moral of the story is that this hardship for either party is not a partisan issue but a human issue. Any attempt to translate a person's pain into political capital is abhorrent and inexcusable. That goes for both sides.

Yeah but I don't here any Conservatives wishing for Mrs Edwards death.....In fact like I said most of us have her in our prayers....
 
It is very sad that I have not heard very many condemnations of those horrific statements..............

Because it shouldn't be needed to be said and shouldn't even have the attention you are giving.

It was a quote from a post on some message board by some partisan child. Do you stand up and defend every single thing Pat Robertson says? No, and you don't need to. It's taken that everyone thinks he's a lunatic, as people do with individuals who post like the person you quoted.
 

You are correct......in that I am extremely partisan. I have no problem admitting that....but you are incorrect that that is the only difference. Trust me.....there are many many many differences. That aside....back to the thread.....I am not hijacking the thread....
You posed the question regarding people who try to politicize a person's personal health tragedies for political partisanship. I simply pointed out that you are guilty of the very thing you are condemning in this post. You might not be able to handle the truth....but it is directly on topic and not a "hijack".

Personally, I was saddened to hear about Tony Snow's cancer....as I am with Ms. Edwards....but one of the differences between us Navy...is you will never see me start a thread to try to spin a person's very personal health issues into a smear campaign.
 

Personally, I tend to regard the words and actions of individuals more as a reflection upon their parents, or lack therof. We are all products of our upbringing.

Why don't you condemn your own "horrific" use of the Edwards personal dilema for Political Smear?

You know Navy.....you could actually save face and gain the respect of some people here if you simply came forward and said "You know what.....what I did in that post was wrong....I accept responsibility for try to capitalize on her health problems for political smear.....I apologize"...... Then maybe we could accept that your "concerns" for her and her family are sincere....otherwise they ring hollow as does your condemnation for what I agree are dispicable comments towards Tony Snow.
 
 

I stand by my statement 100%........I would not turn my back on and ambulance chaser trial lawyer billionaire for one second........God forbid if things get worse for Mrs Edwards and she gets very sick will his huge ego make him forget about her and keep up his useless run for the presidency.....

So then....you are saying that it is perfectly ok to use a family's personal tragedy to smear a person politically. See....you really are like your hero GWB....rather than admit you made a mistake and accept responsibility you see strength in sticking with a very bad decision. Now I get it.....I understand your admiration. Its a sad commentary though that you would find such a smear tactic to be "fair game". I, for one, wish elections would get back to electing people based on issues.
 

Did you know that Edwards although still in 3rd place picked up 5 points in Iowa on and MSNBC poll? Sympathy maybe???????:roll:

It is obvious you have not had many dealings with trial lawyers and ambulance chasers my liberal friend........

You can choose to debate me or not.....that is your call. I don't respond to threats. The point is....I think your threat to stop debating has nothing to do with personal attacks. I think it has to do with the fact that you don't like being called out on your contradictions and your tactics.
I will continue to call them as I see them. I am not one to sit back and allow someone to make hypocritical statements without calling them on it. If you can't stand the heat....I understand....but it has nothing to do with personal attacks....unless pointing out your hypocrisy is a personal attack to you...in which case....

The funny thing about this post is.....I AM a trial lawyer.....not a personal injury aka "Ambulance Chaser"....but that again...is another failed right-wing talking point they tried to stick on Edwards last time....didn't gain much traction though.

Sympathy? Maybe.....but not Sympathy he was seeking....its probably a result of outrageous statements like Limppaws that you aped in your post.....thats generally what garners sympathy.
