Many of us figured this out: Never Trump mean no longer voting GOP. Why? Because Trump now is the GOP.

He commands the base of the party. And the base of the party comprises the foot soldiers that every politician wants and needs -- whether to power small-dollar donations or turn out in primaries. The person who controls the base controls the party. Period.

If you want to oppose him from within the big clown-tent, you'll end up beating your head against the wall. You're not going to out-primary the Base. And, that means Trumpism will represent the GOP in 2022.

Republicans running for office in 2022 are falling all over themselves to win Trump's endorsement. Witness the "Apprentice"-like scene that played out in Mar-a-Lago last month among Ohio Senate candidates.
So, let the GOP nominate all the crazies they wish and then vote against them in the General. The more people coming to terms with the fact that GOP = Trump, the more likely we are to see Dems win the big races, like Ohio's open Senate seat.

Except for your last paragraph, you and CNN are correct. Trump controls the Republican Party.

Your last paragraph...your suggestion...might sound good to you and to all those useful idiots out there, but it doesn't sound good to your Dem Elites. They NEED the GOP Elites. Without them, they can't play their games...they can't pretend there is a difference between the two groups while they, together, make the deals for their own personal wealth and power.

If the Dems win ALL the House seats, Senate seats and the Presidency, they are screwed. That will only make them TOTALLY responsible for their actions. They won't have anyone to blame anymore. They have to have someone else to blame.
