LAPD DELIBERATELY shoots an Aussie Reporter with a rubber bullet

the video behind the paywall

We're getting only a limited view of the scene.

Could the cop have been shooting at another threat near the reporter, but off camera? The cop raised his rifle, and fired quickly, which to my eyes seemed a reaction more appropriate to a quickly emerging threat.

I find it hard to believe the cop targeted the reporter. It makes no sense. To shoot an innocent reporter on live TV.

she was doing her job. Sounds like if an officer shot someone in the back of the head you’d blame the person shot for walking on the sidewalk

A lot of people do dumb shit while they’re on the job. Standing in the line of fire sounds like one of them.

She wasn’t in the line of fire. He lifted his gun, intentionally aiming it at her and shot her in the back of the head and less than lethal rounds are not supposed yo be shot directly at anyone they are supposed to be shot at the ground

Camera turns around to show protesters on the other side. We’ve all seen the video. She wasn’t shot in the head. She grabbed her leg. Your description of the video is way off.

He didn’t aim at protesters he aimed at the reporter and he is not able to aim directly at protesters either. They are required to fire less than lethal shots at the GROUND

At the ground? Well, finally, one thing in that video corroborates your story. She grabbed her leg, meaning it was shot at the ground.

He wasn’t aiming at the ground and he knew he was going to shoot a reporter

So you’re changing your story now? So she was shot in the leg…but he wasn’t aiming at the ground?

Of course the officer had to shoot the reporter. He could only speak Murican and did not understand Strine . So for all he knew the woman was saying bad things about President Trump. Still, one supposes he will be reprimanded by his superiors for firing only a rubber bullet.

You are doing a fair @BitterPill impression ;)

Why we're they shooting at people who were clearly not violent or even doing anything provocative?
As far as I could see they were just standing about.
You may not remember this; for me it's as clear as if it was yesterday...four kids shot dead. By the National Guard.

Those 'non-lethal' rounds can still kill; steel slugs covered in rubber.
This, in Northern Ireland during The Troubles:

That's what happens when you employ poorly-trained, 18 year-old mouth-breathing rednecks.
I would add ill-disciplined and badly commanded. The original fault rests withe the people of California and the office holders they elect.

jesus christ! that WAS deliberate.

Looks that way but it’s not all the information required to make a judgement.

If it was deliberate it is very likely this officer’s career, pension, and maybe some jail time to boot. So let’s treat it the way we’d want it treated ourselves if we were the involved. Golden Rule Ethical Thinking. No rushing to judgement.

Don’t get me wrong. If the officer did violate both departmental policy and the law they should get what they have coming, but cops are just like everyone else; innocent until proven guilty.
