As others have said, if foreign drones are able to breach Russian airspace and get all the way to the Kremlin, Putin's got bigger problems than Ukraine. An accurate analogy would be if the US were actively installing US agents throughout the government in Mexico without fair elections by the people with the intention of illegally annexing the entirety of the country and expanding US territory, then if Russia then fomented a coup against this US-led government in order to prevent the illegal annexation of Mexico by the US, and then the US responded with a military invasion of Mexico targeting civilians and committing war crimes.

The coup in 2014 in Ukraine overturned an elected government. You are now arguing that if the US thinks that the elected government in another country is not legitimate, that the US has a right to overthrow it in a coup? That is what you - purporting to be on the Left -- are advocating?

That is an unjustified invasion. The rest of the world would be right to treat the US as a pariah state in that case.

The bottom line is, if Russia supported a coup in Mexico City, our Marines would be in the Halls of Montezuma quicker than you can say Jack Robinson. And, you know it. The US would do that because it is a security issue for the US - we would not allow our enemies to be on our border like that.

I am not saying Russia is "right" to invade Ukraine. What I am saying is that there is reason behind it. There is a security interest, and the war could have been avoided altogether if the US/NATO had recognized that and negotiated accordingly. The people that are paying for this whole situation are the citizens of Ukraine. They are dying by the thousands, and their country has been wrecked. It was all unnecessary.

Russia's goal is not to prevent NATO influence on its borders, and hasn't been since the cold war. Russia's goal in the 21st century has always been imperialist military expansion. NATO is just standing in their way.
