The monarch’s annual birthday parade, known as Trooping the Colour, is a historic ceremony filled with pageantry and military bands in which the king reviews his troops on Horse Guards Parade adjacent to St. James’ Park in central London.

The autocracy is spreading.

And Canada.

And he demands a military parade to honor his birthday. Dumb.
Yeah, well, the word 'king' means something different in America than it does in Britain. And saying he 'demands' it is, well, dumb.
Why do you have parades and fireworks on the 4th of July? Dumb.

Pretty sure we had the same king at one time...

Not any more!

Is July 4th the birthday of our leader?

Nah. No Kings here! We ****ing protest that shit.

Not Canada or Britain. Imagine a king throwing a literal military parade every year for their birthday, and everyone just defending it? It's wild to Americans.

MM is trying to distract us from the fact the MAGA king he adores is throwing himself a birthday parade.

Hey, here in Canada we celebrate Victoria Day in May.
Your protest of that shit doesn't go to changing the names of states that honour European monarchs though. Isn't Virginia named for Elizabeth 1? Carolina, thats King Charles, right? Carolus, in Latin. Georgia, well, we know who that's named for. Then there's Maryland. Louisiana.

I literally stared a thread celebrating protests to this, and pointing out other autocratic nations and their literal Kings who pull this shit because their citizens don't protest.

You are juat trolling.

Like why do you not protest your kings birthday parade? It's unimaginable to Americans that the military would throw a parade and it not be protests.

Progress is slow, for sure.

Canada doesn't even protest their kings military birthday parades. Americans can't imagine that...

Like I said, 'king' means something different to Americans than Brits.
There's lots of anti-royalist Canadians but if it was put to a vote I'm pretty sure a big majority would vote to keep the monarchy.

Plenty of republicans (small "r"!) in the UK too but the Trooping of the Colour is theatre that pulls in the tourists. Even Americans pay to watch! ;)

This is what makes America so awesome! Our military celebrates itself, and we ****ing protest! No Kings here!
Our military does not celebrate with weaponry parading down our streets. Never have.

Trump has wanted this autocratic spectacle since his first term. Now that he has done away with the cabinet and military leadership who acted as guardrails, he gets his parade, just like his heroes overseas.

Of course they would.

What would they do without a King.
