Kamala Harris was not appointed as the "border czar"

How is that accomplished in the face of municipal governments that fancy themselves as running a "Sanctuary City?"
Clearly you do not understand why it is that municipalities do not want to charge their tax payers locally for carrying out federal responsibilities.

If memory serves, there's been a recent ruling that effectively bans that sort of blackmail from Washington when there is no connection between the funding and the called-for action. For example, the Feds can withhold highway subsidies if the given state refuses to agree to a federally approved speed limit. They cannot withhold those same funds if the state opts not to cooperate with immigration officials; there's no nexus.

The if-then might not hold up if the Fed is trying to impose local law creating but in this case it’s a mandamus issue because what the Fed is saying isn’t to creat state law but to enforce existing federal law.

If you really want to force the issue do it as a task force. Create the task force, request of the state and locals to supply manpower to work in assistance, under the feds. Like Homeland Security did initially and still does as needed.

Even if that were not true, do you really think withholding aid to the poor in order to get immigration law enforcement is a wise move, politically?

Depends, I suppose, on how big a problem the undocumented are perceived to be in that location.

I’ll keep that in mind the next time I read about the San Fransisco City Council voting on matters half way around the world.

Just seems a great deal more straightforward to focus on the border. The executive branch has all the authority is needs and there’s no need to spend all that time convincing far left city councils their position on immigration is wrong.

What has to do with not wanting their tax payers to fund work that is the responsibility of the federal government?

It means the idea that liberal city councils are only declaring their municipalities as "Sanctuary Cities" for budget reasons is laughably absurd.

Why are they funding the Palestinians through their tax dollars? I know darn well that if I was paying municipal taxes intended for local services and education I'd be really ticked in my police were spending their time doing federal work my taxes were also paying for.

I keep seeing this claim that Harris failed in her duties as Biden's border czar. There's a perspective that she was given the job of fixing the border problem and she failed at it. I assume those who think this is true might want to know that it's actually not true.

Harris was never put in charge of the border or made "border czar," immigration experts said. President Joe Biden tasked Harris with leading the administration's diplomatic efforts addressing the "root causes" of migration in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

Harris was not asked to be the administration's "border czar" or to oversee immigration policy and enforcement at the U.S.-Mexico border. That has mainly been the responsibility of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and his department, which oversees the country's main three immigration agencies, including Customs and Border Protection.

But Ms. Harris was not, in fact, appointed border czar, nor was she tasked with addressing the broader problems plaguing the border itself

Now that we've established the truth of the matter, we can positively identify a few elected officials who have lied to you about it:

And the next time you see Trump or anyone else repeating the claim, you'll know that they're lying to you. Vote accordingly.

Hope that helps!

While Harris' title was never formally "border czar", she was put in charge of dealing with the border issue, as is clearly shown in news coverage from 2021. Trying to gaslight the public after the fact into believing otherwise is pure political BS. Somebody is lying, but it's not the Republicans.

President Joe Biden is placing Kamala Harris in charge of addressing the substantial uptick in migrants, including unaccompanied children, flocking to the U.S.-Mexico border, handing a major political risk to his vice president.

We've moved on from the meaning of "is?" Semantic gibberish.

You should also read the article and consider carefully this passage (emphasis added):

To claim her only task was to find "root causes" is simply a lie, and either you're going to believe that lie or you are not. It's up to you.
She is so bad that they have to lie at this point.

Maybe try actually reading the articles. Harris was tasked with working with the three CA countries to see what could be done to tackle the root cause of migration from within those countries. At no time ever was she assigned any duties related to the day to day or operational control of the border. That remained always with Mayorkas.........you know the guy you tried to impeach for not doing Kamala Harris' job~!!!!!

I posted zero lies and you're about 3 weeks late to the convo, chief.

Harris is "so bad" that she's leading in the nationwide polls now - so what does that say about your boy?

Don't go away mad, just go away.

I did read the articles. If the headlines weren't enough, here's some quotes:

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden has tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the White House effort to tackle the migration challenge at the U.S. southern border and work with Central American nations to address root causes of the problem.

Biden made the announcement as he and Harris met at the White House on Wednesday with Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandra Mayorkas and other immigration advisers to discuss the increase in migrants, including many unaccompanied minors, arriving at the border in recent weeks.

In delegating the matter to Harris, Biden is seeking to replicate a dynamic that played out when he served as President Barack Obama’s vice president. Obama turned to Biden in his first term to lead the White House effort to draw down U.S. troops in Iraq and oversee implementation of stimulus in response to the Great Recession.

“When she speaks, she speaks for me,” Biden said, noting her past work as California’s attorney general makes her specially equipped to lead the administration’s response.

That makes her in effect Mayorkas' boss and responsible for the entire situation.

While working with other countries was part of her remit, all these articles make it crystal clear that "President Joe Biden tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the White House effort to tackle the migration challenge at the U.S. southern border AND work with Central American nations to address root causes of the problem."
