Many people here complain about the "invasion" of illegals, say they are not racist "because it has nothing to do with race, it's because they enter the country illegally and so do not respect our laws".

WHAT IF much bigger quotas were established? What if those millions of South-Americans fleeing war and poverty could enter legally (after having learnt English and under the condition that they find a job)?

Would you accept them?

Im not American but i can see Americans objection to mass illegal immigration i dont know how people get all these various statistics good or bad towards illegal immigrants as they dont know.

However jsut because America is a rich country why does that mean they should just allow anyone to emigrate there.Mexicans and latin Americans arent asylum seekers the majority at least.

Why doesent America just take every countries poor people there are far poorer countries and people than mexicans and latin Americans surely they all go behind cambodians in terms of people in the worst poverty not to mention most somalians.

In 2006 1,266,264 persons became LPR (Legal Permanent Residents) of the United States.

As of 2006, the United States accepts more legal immigrants as permanent residents than the rest of the world combined

I don't think the quotas should be increased. IMO, we already accept too many legal immigrants anyway.

Certainly, so long as they do it LEGALLY! I have no problem with LEGAL immigration, it's the people who ignore our laws and come here ILLEGALLY that I don't want.

If the quota is too short, you don't just jump the fence anyhow any more than you steal someone's car because you can't afford to buy one. I suspect that most would still come illegally. They don't want to be American citizens, they want to be Mexicans working in the U.S. Do you think for one second that all 15+ million illegals in the U.S. have put in legal applications for citizenship and got tired of waiting? Ohla I've never said you had to accept all of them! That's your country, you have the right to chose those who come in and those who stay outside!

As for the economy, immigration can be synonym of economic welfare: in the 50's, we needed a lot of workers for our coal mines, so hundreds of thousands of Italians came. Now the coal mines are closed, but the Italians became Belgian and found other jobs and everybody is happy. Now we have too many workers so we should let less of them come in.

But thats not because of socialism. It's off topic so I will be very brief: GDP tends to converge in the long term, so old economies (which were the richests a few decades ago) grow slower and slower, while the younger economies usuallly have an impressive growth. And yes I agree, too much socialism makes people lazy. That's why we have a proportional political system where the socialists (if they are elected) share power with the liberals or the other parties

The key word being legally. Meaning we actually took control of our borders and actually screened applicants. (big joke, I know) If "gansters/terrorists" lied to get past the screening process, I guess that would make them illegal, and I wouldn't welcome them.

But I don't see the US getting control of the border anytime soon.

Three things I expect the federal government to do.
Protect the borders
Protect the Constitutional rights of it's citizens
Build the highways

bhkad, This video you posted should be viewed by everone in our congress, the president, and his staff, and every American that cares about this country. Those on this forum that are for open borders should have there minds changed after watching this video. Unless they believe the U.S.A. should be destroyed.

This video was based on facts. I understand liberals tend to let there feelings about an issue trump facts. But this is not a partisan issue. It is the single most important issue facing this country today. Closely followed by the War against Islamic Extreamism.
