And I feel a little less wise already

I'll be wafting around the forums with a bottle of pain pills for a couple of days, so expect a little less coherence from here on out :2wave:

Oooo what kind did you get? Lortab 7.5s?

Bottle of percocet. Although if the ibuprophen works well enough I might just, uh, forget to take the whole bottle. Of course it would be a great shame if I had to go to all the trouble of finding a place to stash pain meds for a rainy day...

I feel for you. I just got mine out last year... and I'm over 40. My dentist was going to give me laughing gas, but unfortunately, she ran out that morning. I was pissed off beyond belief, but decided to be brave and go through with it. I can't think of a worse sound than teeth being pulled. Without a doubt, rivals nails on a chalkboard. One broke, and parts of it are still lodged in my gum, and I can feel the pieces coming up to the surface.

Anyway, I certainly feel your pain. After the first couple of days, though, it should get much better and then you'll be as good as new.

I had mine yanked out in the beginning of boot camp. The sounds are quite nasty. You can still feel the pressure, but not really any pain. Thank god, because when they get to cracking around in there, it sounds horrific. I too had some break off, and they had to cut into the gum to get the rest of it out.

Dental work is one are that makes me extremely happy to be living in a modern society. I luckily was out the whole time, and in fact when I woke up I didn't think I had been put out yet.

It really isn't so bad. I heard it hyped enough when everybody was having it done back in highschoo. I had four out and the only one that hurts at all is the one that was impacted (was growing in at ~20° from horizontal :shock. Anyway, so far what it's meant to me is sitting on the couch all day, nice powerful drugs, and a few days of pampering, I don't know that I'd even call it a bad experience

Heck yeah, I envy you. I've never had to have my wisdom teeth removed (and probably never will), but I'd love to have a great excuse to take a couple days off work; go to my parents' and watch some movies with Dad maybe; stay doped up all day. That's the good life.

Oh, one other thing I forgot to mention. You'll notice that after wisdom teeth are removed, you'll be a lot less intelligent. Amazing that I had the wisdom to know that. :2razz:

ME TOO!!

I got mine out last year and I had to go out too. I couldn't do it no other way.

Not me, I completely forgot...

I still have all three of mine. For some reason I never had one of them and the other three are very small and unobtrusive. I guess it makes sense given my lack of wisdom.

Either that or I'm the future missing link for the next step of human evolution.

I only had three. Mine weren't small. I was put out to have them removed. I put up with the pain for a year thinking it would get better. It never did. It was such a relief to have them removed. It was tender afterwards, but nowhere near as painful as it was when they were in.

Maybe people with only three wisdom teeth are prone to making jokes and living in Illinois? I think a study needs to be made.

I think we need a five year moratorium on video games too.

My red river's been flowin' for months now. :2razz:

I warned you that might happen if you rode the IT Express. I even made you sign a waiver.

I get all 4 of mine pulled in a month. I'm not looking forward to it. Not because of the pain--drugs solve that problem--but because I've been "put under" three times for other surgeries in the past and each time I've come out of it I experience the most horrible nauseous and lathargic feeling in my life. I am not looking forward to experiencing it again.

You might be allergic to the anesthetic used. Be sure to tell your dental surgeon about your experience so they can be even more vigilant in checking your vital signs. If you know what anesthetic was used, be sure to relay that information as well.
