Just got back from my polling place.

I was quite surprised to see a line out the front door when I got there, this is rural and there was more voters there for this Special Election than any other time I've gone up there to vote, and I vote every two years.

Gonna be a HUGE turnout!! Thats usually bad for the GQP.

My feeling is that the hicks in my county may actually vote YES, but I feel the state as a whole will reject Issue 1.

As it should be IMHO!!

What was the makeup of the line?

In my county?

Lots of White people. Saw a lady with a right to life shirt on, she didnt go in she waited outside. Saw more young women I believe than I usually see voting up there. Don't know if that really means anything.

The line was long but moved right through since it was just the one issue on the ballot.

Let's hope the repugs get their asses kicked.

You didn’t know that early in person voting started on July 11th?

I think I see what you are saying now that there were lines at the early voting places. Usually I'd just request a mail in but I didnt do that this time. It usually only takes me a couple minutes to vote and this time was no different. They moved right along.

It does if you know what words mean. The only lines were during the three weeks of early voting leading up to today.
Well, been voting for a few decades now and the only time there was a line was day of, not early voting. Course the 'liberal' use of absentee ballots completely does away with any standing in line... ;)
But to use MAGA 'logic' heavy early voting favors the liberal POV. A lack of line day of looks like the MAGAs are not turning out. Pity... ✌️

More young women??? LOL "young women have more way more important things to deal with than voting UNLESS....NOT looking good for the republican party that has stripped away their rights! LOL

Thanks for voting. What is your guess at turnout? I checked the records and 20% more Ohioans (?) voted in 11/20 than 11/22.

I really have no idea, I only saw my 1 polling place right up the road here. Based on that, there was a line out the door and that has never happened that I have seen at that polling place. I'm guessing it will be HUGE turnout for an August special election, but have no idea as to actual numbers.

Also want to add: at my polling place I have always showed ID. Today it was a requirement, a real ID and not just a utility bill or something. And they stick your ID into a machine and tie it to your ballot electronically.
I really have no problem with any of this. Just wanted to point out that the bullpucky about "fraud" etc is not based in reality.

Congratulations at stopping Ohio from minority rule. I am so jealous. Here in Florida they just raise the referendum % in DeSantis' rubber stamp legislature, no popular vote needed. They raised it to 60% before the Pot legalization vote and it still passed so they are raising it again to 66.67%. We are living in a police State where 35% of the people make the rules for us all.

UPDATE: On Friday, April 28, the Florida House passed the resolution. It now goes to the Florida Senate.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Wednesday, April 19, the Florida House State Affairs Committee advanced House Joint Resolution 129, which would raise the threshold to pass constitutional amendments from 60% to 66.67% of the vote, making it more difficult for Florida voters to amend the state constitution. The resolution cleared the State Affairs Committee 14 to 6 on a party line vote, with all Republicans voting in favor and all Democrats voting against. On March 14, the resolution passed the House Judiciary Committee, also on a party line vote.

Florida already has one of the highest requirements for citizen-led constitutional amendments, requiring 60% of vote since 2006. H.J.R. 129 would raise that threshold to an unprecedented two-thirds or 66.67% of the vote.

Damn.
You folks are just ****ed.

An equivalent statement is that officials are deliberately under-providing for those who want to vote early.

I'm always suspicious when someone wants to blame the voters. Officials should provide what the voters want.
