Judge Schooled by Clerk Over Defense of Confederate Monuments

The article explains an email sent to a Washington D.C. Circuit Court judge by an African-American law clerk concerning the re-naming of US military bases that currently have Confederate names.

A worthwhile and illuminating read for everyone. I commend the law clerk for his courage.

Great article, thanks for sharing!

It's about revising history and nothing else. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying, or naive.

Who is revising what? They simply want to change the name of the base to somebody who didn't kill U.S Soldiers.

doesn't everyone know by now which side of the Civil War that ^ this guy is on?

here, i'll give you a hint. it's the side that fought to continue buying and selling girls this age...

We're talking about military bases named in the early 20th century. We're not talking about removing any statues.

Should the Army Rangers change their name?

It's about the erasure of history. No Les, no Moore.

:lamo...that's the sickest **** I've seen posted here, ever.

I'm on neither side. In case you didn't hear: the war ended 150 years ago. You can stop fighting, now....lol

I think it's time to retire the word "Democrat" given its racist history.

I think it’s fairly easy to strike a compromise concerning this point. We can fix the problem and keep history at the same time. How about replacing commemorative monuments and base names of people who fought to keep slavery legal with those of abolitionists instead? Say, Harriet Beecher or Sojourner Truth?

Why not have both?

yeah. sicker than the actual selling of kids and sicker than 2020 Americans supporting people who fought to continue to sell kids that age.

hey, but at least it appears that you might know it's sick to sell kids. i guess.

do you mean the northern liberals from the south who fought to continue human trafficking?

No, I mean the same Democrat racist slavers that exist throughout history

Democrats instituting Jim Crow
Democrats voting against civil rights
Democrats Creating the KKK to terrorize black families

Are pretty much the same Democrat militia of BLM and Antifa who are currently killing cops, killing civilians, blocking interstates, and taking over Seattle.

Some things never change.

well, you called them Democrats and by today's meaning that would be primarily liberals (or socialists/commies/etc).

so, you're saying the slave traders in the South during the Civil War era were liberals, correct?

But you don't have a problem with the company store system, or the child laborers of the Northrrn states.

oh, it is. but the monuments to the conservative southern human traffickers (who fought a war to continue to sell little girls) remain.

you should push to have those moved to museums.

No history is being revised. You should go look that word up.

The history is still there, unchanged, in places where conservatives fear to tread: books and libraries.

The revisionists want the books to say the war was fought over slavery. That's revision of history.

Why not have both?

Because one statue or base name commemorates somebody who fought to break up the United States and keep slavery legal, and another commemorates somebody who freed slaves. As a historical lesson, one commemorates a bad thing that happened in the United States and another commemorates a brave and noble thing as a solution to the slavery and attempt to break up the United States.

So, you support removing Yale's memory?
