Judge orders Hospital to allow COVID-19 patient to receive Invermectin

This is actually an old story now, that i was flabergasted to learn about. This old woman got covid, went into ICU and into a coma. When she didnt get better, her daughter and doctor wanted to give her Invermectin but the hospital refused. She sued and a judge order them to do it. The doctors still refused and the courts had to force them to let the woman's doctor do it.

The woman is now cured. This does not mean invermectin cured her but theres a strong link. I dont know the science, but dafuk is this not blasted across the media that this is happening? We are 100% vaccine all the time when we have actual treatments that have significant evidence of working, especially if given right away. This is a real tragedy that the media and govt are supressing anything that isnt the CDC line. People with the vaccine still get covid, and still need to be treated. Some people cant get vaccinated. SOme people would rather be treated.

The hospital could find nobody on staff, doctors or nurses, who would agree to administer the drug. The patients family turned to an outside doctor.

For liability reasons hospitals will let people die rather than go against AMA policies.

Two of our children were severe challenging breach births. Of those, the second at a hospital. AMA policy was this required doing a C-section, which my wife refused. This was a HUGE hospital and even a training hospital. Obviously they could not do a C-Section without permission. She was playing poker with them, because that meant she would be in the hospital, going into labor, for which there was an alternative but all medical personnel just watch her and newborn die for AMA policy unless I again could pull it off myself? (Absolutely I wanted her to agree, but it was HER decision, not mine - so backed her up.) Literally it would again me be trying to save them both?

They couldn't answer that either. I had used a midwife technique since until modern times that was the only way. It worked. So my wife was asking them to explain how they are considered one of the top hospitals in the country for birthing, even a training hospital, and all of them together can't do what she and her husband did alone? Strange legal issues too. When she went into labor were all the medical personnel going run away? Just stand there and watch doing nothing? Could that be a lawsuit? "We let mother and child both die to not break AMA policy?"

When they realized she would not back down, and learned the prior situation actually had been explored by a medical team for residual reasons, they made a deal. They would TRY her way - but if it wasn't working she then would let them do a C-Section - but then it would be a "dirty" C-section, the kind where any subsequent birth must be by C-section, rather than the careful "bikini" C-Section. That she agreed to that.

I had managed the breech birth as a breech birth - horrific and almost catastrophic. We wanted them to manually turn the fetus by manual manipulation. To externally, by physical hand pressure turn the child upside down. AMA policy (then) required that kind of breech (plus cord wrapped around leg) be by C-section.

This was a BIG deal. Again, a training hospital. Every shift Chief (doctor) and every doctor present "signed off" off on this. I think they knew the AMA wouldn't take all their licenses shutting down that entire section of the hospital. They did it their training trauma room because it held the most people. They brought in their students, interns, all 3 Chiefs - a training session in an old midwife practice. Shoulder to shoulder medical experts and doctors. Talk about medical care. It worked. My wife remained calm thru it all, total focus. The chief of it all said he had never seen that before and her seeming total control of pain and absolute determination is what convinced him to give it a try. How could he claim his entire hospital staff couldn't deliver without a C-section, when her and her husband had done it alone for a prior child? At some point, maybe a doctor should more care about the patient than policy on an individual level.

I can understand why no one at the hospital would give an experimental and why any doctor would want a court covering his/her ass. If the choice is between breaking AMA or other formal policies and letting a patient die, never saying so I believe often they will let the patient die rather than losing their ability to continue to practice medicine - or being sued for $20 million dollars. Doctors have lost such lawsuits over anything experimental - even if the patient begs for it.

I don't think many doctors would obey a court order that demanded a treatment that is deemed unsafe by that doctor-in the highly unlikely event that the courts would even want to get into that arena.

Not sure what the AMA would do to a doctor who REFUSED to obey a court order for a patient known terminally ill without something experimental, meaning the doctor defied a court order with the near certain outcome being the patient dies. "Yeah, who cares since (under my actions and decisions) he was going to die anyway" isn't a valid defense to defying a court ORDER.

Remember, Trump got a law passed that in the event a person is otherwise terminal, a person can receive experimental drugs with no liability to the doctor. Doesn't matter if the doctor likes that law or not - and only an evil doctor who doesn't give a damn about patients lives would disagree. Lack of such a law is why doctors would not do anything to try to save a patient, including experimental drugs.

Its an ethical issue. I doubt very much that any court would order a physician to administer a drug or order a procedure where the risk to the patient far outweighs the possible benefit. Personally I wouldn’t do it and I doubt any of my colleagues would either-with or without a court order.
If a patient is terminally ill and we have nothing left to offer him and he wants to try a therapy that isn’t approved then sure, we have nothing to lose.
Otherwise its thumbs down.

No, there is one scientific method, but there are many sciences. Take climate change, liberals use that to pass draconian laws in the US, but allow their friend China to skate free of any accountability. Just look at the bogus French Climate Accords.
