Johnson up double digits: Can he break the 15% threshold?

Johnson as a candidate is infuriating. His policies are the right policies. He is the best candidate. Then he goes on a TV show and acts like a clown. This WILL hurt his credibility. If he is going to have a shot at winning the presidency he has to BE presidential.

Is he even less presidential than Trump? That would be difficult to accomplish.

Hah, watch Johnson sneak in and become our next president. I'm not a supporter of his, but that would be one of the funniest things to happen maybe ever.

Honestly thinking about voting for him.
I think others should to it as well. Send a message that the crap candidates isn't who we have to vote for.

Thats maybe the single biggest problem we have in politics. As soon as we see stupid behavior, someone has to rush and say "but its not as stupid as THAT behavior".

I'm voting for him but you could argue that these are the crap candidates that Americans actually voted for. That's why they are the nominees.

Welcome to the 2016 election. For the next three months this is what we have to look forward to. Trump is Trump but I found it funny that Hillary claimed she was going to run a positive campaign based on the issues and her first ads were of all of Trump's verbal missteps.

I don't know much about Johnson...don't really care, either...but seriously, what do you expect when you see him being interviewed by Gutfeld? From that video, it's obvious that Gutfeld's show is a comedy show...it's shouldn't be expected that Johnson be the "serious" candidate there. Heck, if he didn't follow along with the jokes, he would have been branded as not having a sense of humor, I'm sure.

So what if it's a comedy show? For one thing, as strange as it may be sound, a lot of substance and truth can be wrapped in humor. Humor is a very effective means of communication. People are more prone to want to listen if they get a chuckle out of something rather than a boring lecture. Plus, exposure is good.

It's the only real way to send the message to the Republocrats that we're tired of the constant crapfest they offer up each election cycle.

Oh...I'm not knocking comedy shows and, sure, all your points about comedy shows are valid. But that wasn't the point I was making.

People here are contending that Johnson isn't "Presidential" according to his behavior on that comedy show. I pointed out that he was just having fun with Gutfeld and that people shouldn't expect a presidential demeanor in that instance. They should expect comedy.

Not when you are trying to change the opinions and position that the Libertarian party in total is just a joke. That behavior is fine at a grandkids party with a private home video.

Flashback to 2012. Johnson was seen as a serious candidate, well respected and well liked. Then he started wearing happy face t-shirts and hanging out on college campuses and talking about weed. Poof...end of legitimate candidacy.

Got'cha. I misread your comment, then.

We just need to choose candidates who behave less stupidly.

Shrug...

Johnson isn't on my radar, but a lot of people around here seem to like him.

In any case, what's wrong with a candidate having a sense of humor. Heck, even Obama cracks a joke now and then.

There is nothign worng with having a sense of humor. Its a valuable tool in politics and it won over many democrats to supporting Reagan and made him a more effective leader.

But simulating ramming your finger up your nose on camera? Congrats...IF you ever get elected, guess which still the world will be presented in introducing the new president elect.

And they MUST tone down the drug rhetoric.

I feel like many are latching onto Johnson simply due to a "Never Trump OR Hillary" sentiment.

Then there's the ones who tout the Libertarian option every election then vote Rep/Dem anyway.

I get the motivations behind the dissatisfaction, but at the same time it's hard to take Libertarians/Johnson seriously when there's such a long history of disappointing turnout and lack of follow-through.

I'm with them on that issue, but they do need to tone it down, I agree.

The problem is, there aren't enough voters who are fed up with the hegemony of the two major parties and who are politically aware enough to even know about the "other" parties.

But, the legacy of Trump could just bring about some real change in that area. Maybe his candidacy isn't just a good thing for Democrats. Maybe it will turn out to be a good thing for the country as well.

Okay...

Since I don't really give a rat's ass about Johnson...heck, he doesn't even have a snowball's chance in the arctic of getting elected...I'll pass your passionate dislike for the guy onto someone else. Maybe one of his supporters would like to talk to you.

In my opinion, he would have hurt himself more if he had not shown his sense of humor on a comedy show. People would be calling him "Debbie Downer".

You really arent connected to reality on this. I am a Johnson SUPPORTER. I am a registered Libertarian. I AM voting for him and WANT him to be successful. I believe the only way that happens is that he behaves more like an adult than the other two clowns currently running.

If it were somebody else upsetting the apple cart I'd be good with this sentiment. Hell, I *want* someone legit to upset the apple cart. The apple cart needs upsetting. I just don't see Trump being that guy, though. It's him, and who he is.

In that the fact that Johnson has no bearing on reality...as in, he is just wasting money and votes...yeah, I guess you could say I am not connected to YOUR reality, at least. It doesn't matter if everyone thinks he's the only adult around or if he wears a clown suit, he WON'T be successful.

So hey...let him have some fun, eh?

The same could be said of Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, perhaps Johnson could get enough support to make the voters wake up and smell the coffee and say, "Hey, maybe we don't have to just accept whatever the two major parties give us after all."

No...the same cannot be said about Trump...except, maybe, in your dreams.

Sorry, but that is not going to happen. Face reality. We are a "two-party" country. All the rest is just window dressing.
