WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday dismissed the idea that this Congress is the least productive in history and said the House has done its job this year."The House has continued to listen to the American people and to focus on their concerns," Boehner told reporters. "Whether it's the economy, whether it's jobs, whether it's protecting the American people from Obamacare -- we've done our work."
Boehner said if anyone's to blame for congressional inaction, it's the Senate. He cited the fact that the House has passed more than half of the annual appropriations bills and the Senate hasn't passed any of them.
"The House continues to do its job," he said. "It's time for the Senate to get serious about doing theirs."

Yea Bohner... Youve done "your work" by not doing anything, and by being the most obstructive congress ever. Good job! Something to be real "proud" of.
You see the Senate has passed appropriation bills. So when Boehner cites that, "the fact that the House has passed more than half of the annual appropriations bills and the Senate hasn't passed any of them",
I think your basic argument goes something like this:
When the House won't act on a Senate bill (when Boehner blocks it) it is obstructionist and just saying no; when the Senate won't act on a House bill (when Reid blocks it) then it is sticking to principle and protecting the interests of the American people.
Either way, we get nothing..
Ain't split government grand..
Let's toast that one also in 28 days..
((Ryan and Murray are making progress toward the 12/13 date))
There probably is something to Kristol's coup .
So when Boehner cites that, "the fact that the House has passed more than half of the annual appropriations bills and the Senate hasn't passed any of them", you know differently?
Show your stuff. And why aren't you going after Harry Reid who has been an absolute obstructionist in the senate. He won't even allow any bills not from dems to the floor.
We may get nothing but that nothing required more taxation and a lot of national debt increase.

Yeah, we need hundreds of new programs to insure that the poor live as well as the rich but without car elevators.
The tab will be picked up by the foolish middle-class.

You see the Senate has passed appropriation bills.

He has a point. The senate has the power to amend, add, change, delete anything from those appropriations bills it likes or doesn't like. But in a way Reid is the obstructionist. He would much rather table all those bills than do what the senate is suppose to do with them. If he doesn't like something in a bill, delete it, add what he wants. It is actually the duty of the senate to do this rather than table all those bills. You wouldn't see a Byrd, a Mitchell or even a Daschel doing what Reid has done. The former three knew the senate's duty, the later one apparently does not.
But an ideal congress would be one that just passes the mandatory stuff and nothing else.
National debt increases happen 'just on interest of the total accumulated debt alone'..
Did that come from Obama??How much of Obama's debt is due to interest on the total accumulated debt ?

Emergency city managers not elected--the GOP way..Interest on the national debt in FY 2013 was $222.75 billion or 6.23% of total federal spending. Obama added over $6 trillion to the national debt in his 5 years so, even if you included all national debt interest paid (for the last 5 years) as "pre Obama" debt interest, it would be slightly over 20% of that total added debt (about $1.2 trillion).

the fact that that congress sets its own schedule and it is only in session for as little as 40 days is a bit odd considering that there are so many problems plauging our nation right now. you would think that such problems would require congress to spend more time trying to fix the problems?
What income range would you call middle-class..
You're certainly well above that--where I believe the concern is for paying more tax .
That will happen only "when the economy gets better", for now we will just add it to the tab.
Not to change, but what do you think of Chaper 9 in Detroit today where retirees will be down to 18% of their pensions..

and when reid is presented a bill that guts epa regulations in what is supposadly a "jobs" bill and he allows the senate to strip the bill of the parts harming the epa, when he sends it back to the house the house will bash him for taking out the parts harming the EPA.
some of the bills are obviously political traps.
Reid wouldn't have to table the House bills this year if the House, under Cantor's direction,
had not refused 18 requests to have a Bi-cameral Conference to discuss the very deletes,
adds that you keep saying he doesn't do .
Economic Martial Law with a GOP governor in Michigan..What are you talking about? As far as I know it has been only a few hours since the court approved making a bankruptcy plan, and you already know the details? Please supply a link and I will discuss.
EDIT: Better yet start a thread on it, as it is not relevant here.
Okay, the house would howl. But how do the American people feel about the EPA? Do most want it done away with or do most want it to stay? If most want it to stay, Reid would come out smelling like a rose and bloody the nose of the Republican house. But only if the most Americans want it done away with, would the house come out on top. Sometimes these things need to be played out. I do not have the faintest idea how the majority of Americans feel about the EPA, I would guess that more want it than don't, but I have nothing backing me up on that.
But I am all in favor of giving the American people what they want or don't. Political traps, both parties lay them all the time, I would wager that Reid has laid some good one for the expiration of the Continuing Resolution coming up in January in hopes the Republicans step into one.
