Over the last five years, 50 billionaires and 17 spouses of billionaires have donated to Manchin’s campaign committee or leadership PAC, according to a review of Federal Election Commission data. About one third of Manchin’s billionaire supporters live in New York, and about one third of the group’s fortunes stem from the financial industry. Among them: activist investor Nelson Peltz, who told CNBC last month that he speaks with Manchin “every week.”

Other notable donors include Bill and Melinda Gates, who donated $12,800 in 2020, before their divorce. Gates has written about favoring higher taxes on the wealthiest Americans, but Manchin helped him avoid an estimated $14.9 billion tax bill for 2020 and 2021 when the senator quashed the proposal for a billionaires’ tax last month.

The people of West Virginia would benefit greatly from the democrats plans.

Unfortunately the majority of West Virginia's population is poorly educated and don't realize what is at stake here. Republicans have done a great job of misinformation for this demographic.
 
Kudos to Senator M. for his courage and integrity.

He sees that the proposed monstrosity would gravely harm the financial condition of this country.

Hopefully, the American people next November will rectify the horrific mistake that they made in last year's elections.
 
Replace Manchin with a PDA thinker = a practical kind of politician. Manchin might be lying to the constituents.
He smells like an ALEC cat by way of his comments. ALEC is a Fascist Conservative element that killed the GOP.

Not exactly true. Out of 50 democrats, we have 2 that have their heads up their asses. Out of 50 republicans, we have 50 with their heads up their asses.

And our two are still a lot better than the 50. Who voted for and against the Covid relief act, and about 90% with Biden?
 
I'm sure the state of West Virginia needs absolutely no outside help. Joe Manchin has done wonders for the state. Sure you don't get clean water or decent roads but the availability of fentanyl and opioids will make you forget about it all.

West Virginia ranks #50 in infrastructure, #49 in poverty, #47 in health care, #45 in education, and #48 in the economy sounds like they are doing extremely well on their own. Why we should all move to West Virginia!

The ACA inhabits the same status as laws on internet piracy: meaningless.
