Joe Biden: What Americans should remember about Jan. 6 (WaPo editorial written by Biden)

You've heard of the pot calling the kettle black, right? If that's all you have...
I'm the one saying my words about Biden...and I'm not a pot.

Why are you calling me names?

And........ out of far left field, @Mycroft brings in Antifa.
If the Dems want to derail Trump's certification, their usual soy-boy demonstrators can't get the job done. They'll have to call in their shock troops...Antifa.

The plan to overthrow the results of the election was not limited to Jan 6.
And yet, no such plan has been determined to be such, other than the Dem's push narrative to manipulate the court of public opinion, which they've propagandized and gaslighted.

I realize there is no purpose in debating this with you. I've been reading your posts for years and know that you refuse to believe the facts. It's called willful ignorance, for clearly you have the intelligence to understand what really happened - you just refuse to face the facts.

For others following this thread, there is a good article by the Washington Post supporting these seven strategies used in the attempt to subvert our votes link and subscription free link https://archive.ph/0nSX1. It was written in 2022.

Post-election litigation
Pressure to prevent certification
Efforts to create alternate slates of electors
The chase for possible fraud or machine manipulation
Attempt to weaponize the Justice Department
Pressure on the vice president
The effort to harness public pressure — ending in violence
Attempts to deploy the national security establishment

On this Jan. 6, order will be called. Clerks, staff and members of Congress will gather to certify the results of a free and fair presidential election and ensure a peaceful transfer of power.

For much of our history, this proceeding was treated as pro forma, a routine act. But after what we all witnessed on Jan. 6, 2021, we know we can never again take it for granted.

Violent insurrectionists attacked the Capitol, threatened the lives of elected officials and assaulted brave law enforcement officers.

An unrelenting effort has been underway to rewrite — even erase — the history of that day. To tell us we didn’t see what we all saw with our own eyes. To dismiss concerns about it as some kind of partisan obsession. To explain it away as a protest that just got out of hand.

This is not what happened.

Thousands of rioters crossed the National Mall and climbed the Capitol walls, smashing windows and kicking down doors. Just blocks away, a bomb was found near the location of the incoming vice president, threatening her life. Law enforcement officials were beaten, dragged, knocked unconscious and stomped upon. Some police officers ultimately died as a result.

And we should commit to remembering Jan. 6, 2021, every year. To remember it as a day when our democracy was put to the test and prevailed. To remember that democracy — even in America — is never guaranteed.

We should never forget it is our democracy that makes everything possible — our freedoms, our rights, our liberties, our dreams. And that it falls to every generation of Americans to defend and protect it.

The above excerpts are from a Biden OpEd written for the Washington Post link. A full version of the OpEd can be found here without a subscription https://archive.ph/eY09z

Posters on this forum have seen hundreds, perhaps thousands of posts saying that the events of January 6 were not an insurrection, were not serious, the people jailed should be released (are patriots), etc. Clearly that is what the GOP is trying to convey. They want to rewrite that part of American History. Biden is right here - we need to preserve the truth.

Classic Joe, double down on failure.

Talk about a sore loser, I mean Joe, you and your party have been trodding this claim out for four years. You lost because no one believes your fantasy.

Stock market is spiking up as 1/6 celebration of Trump returning back into office.

Hallelujah! Happy days are here again. A great day for our country, January 6th, 2025. 😁🤗🍾🥂🇺🇸

Never forget folks, "it's called insurrection".......

......could have stopped it within minutes. ;)

Funny how they'll always blame the dems for what he's does to them.

It was a political protest which unfortunately spontaneously broke out into a riot. Nothing more, and nothing less, regardless of how much the left wants to over inflate it for their political purposes.

"In the significance of the passage of time", it's all now behind us, just another protest that got out of hand. That. is. it.

The above quote cred goes to Kamala Harris.

If this is so iron clad, where are the indictments specific to these?

No, the Dems decide to pursuit their lawfare with crap charges in NY, a failed DA in Georgia and a failed special prosecutor, all those cases imploding on their own accord. 🤷‍♂️

Man, must suck to be you with such a losing streak.

No doubt that the Justice Department failed. And of course Fani failed, too. That doesn't mean that Trump and the GOP didn't attempt a coup. They did.

And Alvin Bragg didn't fail. Trump has been convicted of felonies. You folks get to own that. You elected a felon (not to mention a man found liable of sexual abuse and fraud). And it must suck to be you - now having to live with the fact you voted for a felon, sexual abuser and con-man for President of the United States. I'd like to see you explain that choice to your grandchildren. My side lost, but my conscience is clear.

You can have that opinion, but with as much false narrative pushing going on, show me the court rulings.

Bragg failed in that he partially or fully invented crimes and punishments and escalated them from misdemeanors to felonies.

You elected a felon (not to mention a man found liable of sexual abuse and fraud).
With enough money behind that civil case and Manhattan courts / juries, the Dems got the results they paid for.

And it must suck to be you - now having to live with the fact you voted for a felon, sexual abuser and con-man for President of the United States.
See above.

I'd like to see you explain that choice to your grandchildren. My side lost, but my conscience is clear.
I have a clear conscious as well.
Given the two candidates, I voted for the one which had policies and policy directions which I think are better for the country.
That said, neither candidate was anything to cheer about.

All of it.

At least, all of what the OP presented. I didn't bother to read the rest of the Biden puke's nonsense.

Thousands of rioters crossed the National Mall and climbed the Capitol walls, smashing windows and kicking down doors.

So just to be clear, you are saying that the above never happened?

As I said...it is revisionist.

That statement leaves out a lot of important details...such as, there was nobody "smashing windows and kicking down doors" until the Capitol Police open fired on what was, at that point, a peaceful protest.

People tend to get pissed off when someone starts shooting rubber bullets and tear gas canisters at them. Riots ensue.

At the point where the police started using rubber bullets and tear gas, the rioters had already torn through multiple barricade fences and had started climbing the capital walls.

Are you suggesting that the capital police should have done nothing when a mob has torn down fencing and is climbing the capital wall?

When has Wall Street ever cared about right and wrong, patriotism, or even basic decency?

I challenge you to prove any of the bullshit in your above post.

You won’t because you can’t, because you know you’re lying.

How does that help with the price of gas and eggs?

Perhaps, the fact that no J6 Capitol riot participants were ever charged with rebellion or insurrection matters to them.
Several have been convicted of seditious conspiracy and other serious felonies.

No matter how hard some try to deny the significance of 1/6/21 as a stain on our country’s long history of peaceful transfers of power, it will not affect the truth that has been recorded for future generations learn from.
