The far left is ridiculous. Jimmy Kimmel debating using his newly acquired Italian citizenship to flee America because he doesn't like the politics. Does anybody really care? It's drama, it's showmanship, it's bluster, mostly it's bullshit. You see this among some in the left, the extremism when they don't win on issues. Like the TX democrats fleeing TX because they are losing on the issue because they don't have the votes.
I hate he's going to Italy as it's one of my favorite places to visit, and my wife is of Italian heritage her grandparents immigrated here in 1903. Very proud Italian Americans. Super proud to have become American and now an American wanting to toss it. Lower attitude. Jimmy K doesn't understand America, work hard, fight you battles, defend and honor the country. He's a jerk who has an elitist mentality. .

It's not just Kimmel. Rosie O'Donnell has gotten Irish citizenship now and lives there. It's becoming more prevalent.

Many Americans are fleeing the US for the same reason Iranians, Cubans, Venezuelans, etc... are trying to flee their own countries: they feel their own country is turning into a sh*thole and they no longer want to have anything to do with it.

Why are so many Americans applying for second passports?

Political and economic uncertainty as well as fear of Trump orders are driving Americans to seek other citizenships.

And yes, Trump's America is a perfect example of why I support open borders. "if you don't love it, leave" OK, that's fine, I'd have aleady done so if moving to a different country were as easy as moving to a different state, but you assholes make it impossible to LEAVE also. Not everyone has the privilege of citizenship in a different country.

That's your take and you are entitled to it. For me, seeing people talk openly about leaving - or simply having an escape plan - sends alarm bells. Our country is in trouble because of incompetent and corrupt leadership.

I am also pursuing citizenship in another country that I am entitled to. Seems prudent to have a n escape plan.
 

I understand Americans leaving the U.S. for a more sane life and the hope of a more peaceful future. At the present I can see the possibilities. I wish them well. If circumstances were different for my wife and I we would seriously consider joining the growing number of American expats.

The ugly truth, however, is that the Heritage Foundation that is systematically destroying democracy in the United States is actively working in Europe to support authoritarianism and to destroy the European Union.
