Jeremy Corbyn wins Labour leadership contest - BBC News

Jeremy Corbyn has promised to lead a Labour "fight back" after being elected the party's new leader by a landslide.

The veteran left winger got almost 60% of more than 400,000 votes cast, trouncing his rivals Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.

Mr Corbyn was a 200-1 outsider when the three month contest began.

Jez we did it, indeed!

So, what I'm wondering now is how long it'll take for a Corbyn volte-face. He's been solid since the 80's and before, but will the wrangle and pull of party politics drag him toward the so-called centre?

Jeremy Corbyn is no Michael Foot and I don't think he has the zeal or oratory skills needed to truly capture the votes and change the minds of unaligned people, but what I'll concede is that he does represent tangible change instead of the ridiculous Blairism of New Labour that the Tories themselves basically represent.

It's possible to drag this extremist towards the centre? Good luck with that.

A man who collaborates with genocidal maniacs who kill women for honor is too far gone to the notion of reason to be much influenced by anybody, I do believe.

Well. It looks like we will have a few more years of conservative government in England. Good.

The conservative party in Britain is about the only party that is liberal.

Dont be too sure about that.. the Conservative party is split on so many fronts that it wont take much to fracture it. Might be migrants, might be the EU referendum, but it will happen. There has already been one big rebellion by members who actually joined the opposition to vote down the government.

When is the referendum on EU membership coming up?

Last time Labour elected a guy like this, we had Thatcher here for 10 years and she changed our country very much for the better.

I'm looking forward to Boris Johnson in power or worst case scenario - Jeremy Hunt.
